Not only the corolla S has more HP but also more torque and is few pounds lighter. Peak power on the corolla comes earlier than with the civic and stock civic comes with shittier tires than stock corolla S so basicly, with 2 drivers with same skills, the corolla S will kill the civic all the time.

Corolla:130 hp @ 6000 rpm - 2524 lbs. - 58.5 inches high

The Corrola S is slighly lighter though the engine has 3 more hp than the EX engine, the ex engine feels smoother and zipper as the revsa climb up. I guess you can't always trust numbers.

3hp doesn't mean s*it. Hell, 9tq more doesn't mean s*it.
BTW, a stock ex civic usually dyno's at around 105-107whp (for the guy that said stock ex dynos at 90whp...yes if its auto, but not m/t)

as for manual corolla.. my friend did a 127whp with only TRD Cold Air Intake and cat-back...

Both cars have variable valve timing. I've driven a corrola and drivetarin is not as smooth as ans EX.
There no dramatic change in an ex when the revs go beyond a threshold causing the more agressive cams to be used. Its not having a turbo car where you feel a jump in power.

well.. but more and more younger people is buying the Corolla S..

btw.. now this days.. if you look around, your see there are tons of aftermarket parts for the corollas because the demand is raising..
gosh... why don't we just have a friendly race between stock corolla and stock civic ex.. thats the best way to prove everything.. if anybody lives in bay area.. i might be able to find somebody with stock or almost stock corolla to race...
i don't think stock civic want to race with my car...

I dont know, I would think the Corolla would be the civic. My buddy has a 2003 Corolla-S and that sucker feels a hell of a lot quicker and more torqueir than my civic. I got a 2004 Ex 5 speed and he has a 2003 5 speed and it seems to pull a lot harder. I wouldnt put my car up to his, cuz i from me driving his and me used to my car, he would probably take me. Just from my personal experience.
I don' t see it

yeah, I looked around these days, civic coupe is still 2X more than corolla S, and mod civic is like 3X of corolla. Maybe you actaully have to promote more about corolla so more people will buy it...civic is way too common that it stars to look chap

It feels torquier in the bottom end, but it loses its power as the revs climb. My friend had a Corolla and he said it was okay, but not that great in terms of power. Hmm... Maybe it was just the fact that it was an auto, but he ended up trading his car for a Honda Accord.
found this site that talks about the 2003+ corollas...check out the vids that a couple of corolla owners made.

I will have no problem admitting that I was neck and neck with an auto Corolla LE... but then again I started in the wrong gear but it wouldnt have made a difference. I have an LX 5 speed.
