Corolla S
Can Anyone tell me how the Corolla S 2004 (Manual) stacks up to the EX Coupe 2004 (Manual) in 0-60 , horsepower, and 1/4 mile? I want to know if I can smoke some guy at my school. On the track

Well , the corolla s has a 1.8 engine at 130hp and thevic ex 1.7 at 127hp. The corolla's body seems too be heavy compared to a vic. Ahhh, what the hell both the corolla and vic are slow. I'll give the benefit of the doubt to the vic ex ..
Exowner, why don't you look up the curb weight of the Corolla S compared to the Civic Ex. Then see how many how many pounds-per-horse power each cars has. That should give you a rough idea what you're up against.

i was racing a corolla s auto and he had bigger rims, exhaust, intake, and had sound system. i had 04 vp, no vtec with lightened trunk and everything stock plus manual.
i won. beat him off the line. and beat him by almost 2 car lengths i guess.

.a civic can handle something called corners.....
a civic can be swapped with any K series motor,
and lastly civics respond better to boost. the d17 responds amazingly to boost
ohh ya mango if ryan sees this tell him he can take corners just because hes nuts...
and yes that corrola in intial d owns. but that was old school corrola not new

driver plays a bigrole in this situation. both cars seem to be evenly competitive.
some advice, if you still got them shitty firestone tires, launch around 4k rpm. if no, little above 4k then. also, going past redline doesnt mean you'll go faster too.
DONT FORGET TO KEEP IT SAFE IN THE PUBLIC. FIND AN EMPTY ROAD THAT NO ONE GOES TO. $1 WORTH OF GAS IS WORTH TRAVELING FOR OVER COUPLE TICKET(S).

yea but watch out for the XRS corollas out there...i believe they have the GTS engine in them..as i heard on the commercials they have 180hp so its a possibility
also watch out for older corollas like ones with the AE86 or AE101 engines in them...they will rape us dead
the AE86 gives the B16a1 a nice run

Civic: 127 hp @ 6300 rpm - 2579 lbs. - 55.1 inches high
Corolla:130 hp @ 6000 rpm - 2524 lbs. - 58.5 inches high
...according to kbb.com. pretty close. I didn't realize there was such a height difference. I would guess that means a civic should be able to take a corolla in the turns.

The civic EX Coupe chassis and suspension is almost the same as the RSX. The Civic has multi-link independent rear double wishbone suspension. The Corolla has a solid rear beam.
Do any of you have any idea what the difference between a car's curb weight and gross weight is?

i can't believe some ppl are claiming of beating the new corollas. The corollas are a good .4 seconds faster... thats 2 car lengths in a race. My friend has a corolla S and I have lost to him every single time. I've given up trying to beat him because that car accelerates faster than a civic, there's no doubt about that.
