Rep Power: 0 04 Ex Mods
Well I am a H.S. student and i got the 04 EX coupe because I thought it was fun to drive (felt quick enough to me) and got really great gas mileage. My 1969 camaro with a 350 was really fast and good looking but it also got bad, no wait, awful gas mileage and was very unfomfortable, no a/c in AZ is a crime, so i converted to what i ignorantly used to call the dark side (imports). Kept the Camaro of course (it is a classic). Since I am a typical H.S. student and a noob to the civics and the whole import scene what do you think for me would be the best (I, H, E) for sound and performance. Brand names and models are greatly apprecaited. Also I know the d17 is not really fast but the car had to be brand new for my parents to buy it and our budget for insurance and car price left us with the civic ex as the best choice. So please dont say i should do an engine swap or something because I cant afford something like that, with my H.S. type job i can only do bolt ons. Thanks in advance for you help.

intake, headers and exhaust wont do much for performance, but sound yeah. our cars hate mods. most hp you would gain from i/h/e/cat would be like 8 at most if your lucky.
intake - low end is loss, high end is increase a little. K&N intakes i believe are known to give the most performance on the market for intakes (FOR US 7thgens) intakes round from 100-280$.
headers - no expierence with headers but i would consider this mod along with a cat/exhaust combo. headers go from $100-300 depending on material.
exhaust - not much performance, but mainly for sound. my favorite exhausts are: apexi world sport/apexi n1 and skunk2 cuz they sound sick. exhaust round from 200-600.
cat - replacing your OEM cat converter with an hi flowing one is prob the best performance upgrade for our 7thgen civics. of course its illegal so thats why i keep my stock parts =D. for your ex, www.meganracing.com makes an application for ur car, i bought mine off ebay for nearly 1 bill. overall, satified with it.
heres couple companies that have good reputation for parts:
intake - AEM, Injen, K&N.
headers - DC, Hp racing, kamakazie*, and topspeed. DC was known to be crap from expierence from members on this board
exhaust - apexi, skunk2, DC sports, many others.
you should check out the parts/reviews section on this site..

Rep Power: 287 If you are gonna spend dough on anything to make it faster, why don't you keep the EX for daily driving and work on the Camaro. You can really get that engine crackin'. That way you'll have your fun and fast ride to take when youre feeling the need , and you'll have the Civic to drive when you don't wanna buy an oil well in Iraq

I got the K&N also, but can't feel any power gains. I'm taking it out and buying a fram filter though, mostly because of GEARBOX...

Rep Power: 0 If i were you get an Intake...and then save up your money or just spend it on suspension and looks....I just got an AEM V2 i love the way it sounds....it will make u appreciate your car a little more cuz you'll "feel" faster but your really not much faster....and with the AEM V2 you don't lose low end at all and you gain a little bit throughout the power band...i felt a boost in low end and a little top end nothing MAJOR liek throw you bak in your seat, but just a tad bit.....

Rep Power: 0 As far as engine I would get a short intake and an axl back exhaust. I have an 04 and I am concerned about affecting reliability, thats why I got a honda in the first place.
