My 2002 1.7 EL has larger discs than a regular civic??
My 2002 1.7 EL has larger discs than a regular civic??
I have a Canadian Acura 1.7EL, and bought rear discs for it; ( I bought discs for a 2002 Civic EX. They were substantially smaller! I couldn't believe it! All of this time , I thought that the EL was exactly similar to the civic EX/SI where braking was concerned. But it is not. What Honda do I buy for? I am sure that there is a Honda out there with the same discs in the back, because there is a Honda part number stamped onto the disc:
42510-S6D-E00 ; Does anyone know if it fits on any previous civic or Accord? I do not want to buy at the dealer because, well you know!
Thanks

hmm. US Civic, no matter the year. (well except for the Si) has no rear disc..
so... I'm not too sure on what the EL's rear disc is also used on..maybe the 02+ hatchback EP3 Si

The EL has rear disc brakes and are exactly the same size and spec as those found on the Civic Si/SiR.
The Civic EX/Si is rear drum.
The Civic EX/Si is rear drum.

EL rear brakes = Civic EP rear brakes (not the 2004, which is a 5-bolt)
Hey pinkytube, how much smaller do you mean by "substantially smaller"?
The braking on my EL is AMAZING! It stops on a dime, and always as expected. But I left the handbrake on, and my wife took the car, and realized that the handbrake was on after driving about 2 kilometers. This warped the disc , and here I am. I called acura today, and they want 135$ PER disc. I told him not to hold his breath. I don't believe that rotors should ever cost more than a front strut! They actually have about 4$ worth of metal in them! I will find them somewhere.
thanks

Call your local Honda dealership and ask them how much a rear rotor for the EP3 (SiR) costs. Tell them you have a 2002 SiR or something like that. The latest SiR's are 5-bolt though so make sure you don't order the 04 ones.
