hit another tire!
This is really getting annoying. Tires in the middle of the road because trucks are too cheap to change the tires when they're getting old.
Well I hit one last year and tore up my bumper. Got a kit to cover most of the damage, and now I hit another tire tonight. It scraped up everything underneath, and the black plastic cover under the engine is hanging down. I don't know how I'm gonna stick it back up. Maybe zipties?

that sucks. the black plastic usually just tucks above the front bumper and that will hold it in place. but the stock bumper should use those rivit things to hold it in place. not hard to fix at all.
since i got an aftermarket bumper and dont have a spot to attach it to the bottom of my bumper, it just sits on inside of the bottom part and it has never came out. works fine for me. good luck

Yeah i hate when there are stuff on the road. I have a friend he has a scion tc with less than 1000 miles and 2 weeks old he hit a wheel on the freeway and than all the airbags popped and ripped apart his engine.
I was coming back to LA from North Cal on the 5 and I ran over a tire. The plastic engine cover on the bottom of the car was scraping along the road. I had to pull over and yank out the plastic cover. I went to the dealer to get a new one. Guess how much this block of plastic costs.

That's why I don't wanna buy a new one. I drilled a little hole in the middle and ziptied it up. Let's see how long before it falls again

I was following a box truck one time so I couldn't see the road in front of me so this chump runs over this huge retread in the middle of the road and it was too late for me to even move because cars were on both sides of me so of course I nailed it too. I passed the box truck and gave hime a dirty look (I know, it wasn't his fault) and he was grinning from ear to ear right at me.
He thought it was all funny because he was in a company owned truck, why should he care. I was afraid to look at my car but fortunately it was fine. It just looked and sounded worse than it was.

I have HID headlights, and I still didn't see until it was too late. I wasn't about to swerve and cause even more damage. When you're going 65+mph on a completely dark freeway, it's hard to see a tire that looks just like the pavement.
I just pulled my engine guard/wheel well protectors off so I'll never have to worry about them dragging again. The only difference I've been able to tell is that now I can actually hear it when a tire picks up a rock and it gets stuck in the tread grooves.
But speaking of hitting stuff I scraped the entire left side of my car on a guardrail when a deer decided to stand in the middle of the Interstate and play chicken with me. This happened 2 & 1/2 years ago and I've had a couple more near misses with the deer since then.

that plastic thingy underneath your front bumper/engine is called a "skid plate" i believe. looks like its suppose to protect objects flying underneath into the engine while preventing rocks/chips/etc hitting your exhaust piping too. mine busted too due to a huge dip (construction zone) and as a result, my skid plate slammed the ground so hard leaving it hanging down and the clips that held it up fell off. i duct taped little bit of it as a temporary until i go down honda to purcahse a new one. it cost from somewhere near $30-$50.
let me know how those zipties work ... cause if zipties can hold up the plate, then i rather do that then paying $50 at the dealer for a new skid plate.

I drilled a hole in the middle and put a ziptie around it and a hook in the engine bay. It's holding for now, but not very strong. Oh well.

That's crazy. The first time I hit one we actually saw the bus that it came off of. He was driving really slow and sparks were flying everywhere afterward. We couldn't flag him down, so we just took down the info and reported it. I got $600 for a new lip kit
