Yeah I pin mine down quite a bit, just not when there's traffic. I also daily drive it at abotu 7psi without alcohol.
To give you an idea, my ACT Extreme Stage 2 clutch is slipping at the drags now, and it's supposed to hold 270 ft-lbs at the wheels. I drag it almost every week.

You can add wear on the engine if your tach needle is constantly around like 6,000+ RPMs and you decide not to shift. We all know that before 6,800/7,000 RPM cut-off, you're "safe" but if you keep it there, holding the needle close to the redline for an overdosage of time, you can cause wear to the engine internals.

Unless you plan on having your car for the next 30 years why would it matter how hard you push it?
Parts for the most part are easy to replace and repair no days it doesn't matter. With exception of transmissions but then you find a used one in a junkyard and hope it works fine. heh heh
If I have my car 3 years from now I will be hella suprised.

now that im in school, and i get to drive my car only on the weekends i floor it a couple times a day, its so great because i miss it so much. I push my car pretty hard now that its turbo, and even before, just because i think its fun. but 85% of the time im shifting at 3K or so

Sorry to change the subject but my car does that and it pisses me off. I just thought I was a shitty driver. how do I fix it? thanks.
dam this thread is old.
whoever said to change oil every 7500 miles... your nuts. regular oil is recommend to change at every 3000 miles at least and syn is somewhere near the 5000 range? i've been using mobil 1 fully syn for about a year and changed my oil every 4500 miles. i COULD change it at 7000+ miles but i care for my engine and want to keep my car for quite awhile. and plus, running on dark motor oil wont do you good. i noticed my car performed much better after the oil change. when i hit up to 4000k miles on the mobil 1 fully syn oil... it gets pretty sluggish.

I floor mine regulary - especially when passing. I never get on the engine until it has at least been driven several miles. Flogging a cold engine is not a good thing in my mind. Anyway - my 01 is now at 102,000 miles and shows no sign of slowing down.
same here i **** arround 6k all the time and 90 percent if the time my gas pedal is on the floor and sometimes rev limiter comes on but no that often nothing will happen to the engine as long as u change your oil as often as you can and let it warm up in the mornings too.. i change my oil every 2,500miles with vavoline syntethic oil and fram tough guard filter

I beat on mine WAY too much. So what though, I know you people surf ebay. I can snag a new one for $600 anywhere. One weekend and a few gaskets and I'm back to new again. Hell, I bought a new head for $150 and it had less miles than my 03 civic.
