Make sure you're getting a 6-bolt DSM though. I think it's the 7-bolts that have issues.
Can't remember.

I'll have to go with GSX also. With the all wheel drive system, what that does is eliminate any torque steer when gunning it off the line. I test drove a GST two years ago and taking it off the line, there was some torque steer but not as much as I had read in reviews. Anyways, you also get better wet/dry traction with the GSX.

my friend hads one and dam was it fast, just check it out my friends had crank walk, had to get a new motor.. he had issues getting traction it would peel out till third!! if u can get the gsx cause he always had trouble getting traction from a stop
I would get the gst. One of my friends has a GSX and the other has a GST. When they race the GSX pulls off the line, but the GST always passes him in the end. Plus the guy with the GSX has broken all 4 of his axels twice.

I test drove the GST when it was a little wet out so the roads were damped. I spun the wheels getting out of second into third. Those cars are damn quick. The only reason that I didn't end up getting it back then is because my dad talked my mom out of co-signing a loan for me back then. He knew what was up if I had a turbocharged car back then.

Seriously, who made you ask that question? AWD all the way. The way I see it, if you can afford maintenance on a turbo Eclipse, then why not go all out and get the AWD.
Try to get the earlier DSMs, as the motor were built better. I think that the 96-97 were the ones that crank-walked the most. Also don't limit yourself to only the Mitsu Eclipse. The Eagle Talon and Plymouth Laser are the same cars and can be bought for less money.
If you realy want a DSM and want a sleeper get a 1st gen GSX for about 1500-2000, spend about 2 grand in mods and run 12's
. But, be prepared to work on the car (so get familiar with them).

You forgot to mention the other DSM's 3000gt/stealth. They may be heavy but still awd turbocharged v6 kicks ****.
i use to have a 97 gsx and it was by far the best car ive ever owned. gsx hands down.
and about crankwalk.. any motor can get it.. but yes late 95 thru 99 7 bolt motors get it more often.. i think 20% get it.. 97's getting it most often.
he must have an early model gsx with a 3 bolt rear end.. its really weak.. commonly swapped out for a 4 bolt rear end which is a hell of a lot stronger.. i think 90-92 had 3 bolts and march 92+ had 4 bolts.

my coworkers brother has a GSX, with a turbo upgrade and fuel management upgrade, he runs high 12's all day long. i dont even think hes done anything to the internals.
