The reason why it's so quick is probably this:

1) It's a hella lightweight car.

2) Porsche motors can be swapped in pretty easily.

3) Motor is probably turbo.

Add em all together, and whatcha got?

I've seen a drag kharman ghia out here in colorado that ran high 9's low 10's and had a parachute. That was pretty scary.
