Depends what you're going for. Corvette is strictly a sports car, whereas an M3 you can still have 3 passengers, and ride in total luxury. I race mine, so I took all that crap out, but that's a different story. I don't road race, sorry kids! I saw a recent comparison between the Corvette, M3 and Porsche 911 Carrera, and the Corvette only beat the M3 by a small margin (as in .2 or .3 seconds). Considering the M3 is down 67 HP and 2 Cylinders that's not too good on Chevy's behalf. This of course could have something to do with the drivers. There is certainly more options one can do to get more power out of a Corvette. At the price range, to each his own, they're two completely different animals and are rated as being among the best sports cars in the world. However, I'd have to see a stock Corvette smoke a Ferrari 360 in person, otherwise I'd have to say

its not stock. And a stock corvette has comparible times to a ferrari 360 modena
0-60 in a corvette z06 is 4.0 sec
0-60 in a ferrari modena is 4.5 sec
quarter mile stock z06 is 12.6
quarter mile stock ferrari modena is 12.8
top speed z06 173 mph
top speed ferrari 190mph
price differnce 100l
vette z06 is 55k
ferrari modena hardtop rated 150k
thats the differnce.
Also about an M3 they are great cars but I know many M3 drivers that will luagh at any m3 driver that thinks he is within .3 or .2 sec of a z06 around the race track.
M3 is a good car but its more inline to compete against 911's
the z06 will rape a porsche 911 turbo.

As for the vette we have, we do race it and its an auto with a supercharger. the axle been replaced with lowergearing aka performance rear axle. Our quarter mile time averages at 11.8 since its an auto rarely changes do to condition. we also take it out to the track to race against a friends lotus esprit v8 down at california speedway.

People really underestimate corvettes badly... also the new c6 weighs less than the zo6 starting base at 400hp

Want to take on an M3? I say go for an Rx8 and twin turbo it why an RX8? its the cheapest and best performing track car of the bunch. Sorry 350z owners I have seen rx8's perform better on smaller enclosed tracks.

I can keep my own with a stock m3 with my k20. If you do your mods right, a v8 mustang is nigh uncatchable. Mustangs with superchargers = instant death .. and they can put such fatty tires on there -_-;; ... if I end up racing any heavily modded stangs, it's not gonna be pretty for me

Why don't I get this car or why don't I get that car. Hey man ... I'm just a college student ... I don't have that kind of money (but I have the money for a k20 swap? ). If I had that kind of money, I would've gone with a supra. I don't like rx7's and I like the rx8's even less ... imo, they're just plain ugly. I don't particularly like M3's either ... they're ok, but too big and heavy for me.

Well, if I wanted a cheap fast car, I would've gone with the srt neon ... with just boltons, they are hitting low 13's. That is just (for lack of better words) stupid fast. Especially for how much they cost.

All motor LS1= 350 horse and 350 lb*ft in a ~3200lb body with RWD and a good auto or a beast 6 speed VS. a weak 4 cylinder with maybe 210 HP (you said 10psi) in a (EX) ~2600 lb body. Not gonna happen. Turbo K20a (which is very rare) would take a base corvette, but id put my money on a Zo6 if they raced, plus the Z would outhandle the vic and look better doing it (not to mention heads and cam nets about 50-100HP on those cars).

Want do do the K20 swap and smoke M3s, vettes, and almost everything else? Get a Cybernations Stage 3 turbo kit. 25psi will make about 525whp. On the highway you would take just about anything. But at the track you better be able to drive it. Otherwise you will spend most the time spinning your tires. Its going to be a good burn out though.

Don't forget LSD.

FYI a K20A2 with 9psi makes 320whp and 240wtq with stock internals. So a boosted K20A2 would have no problem keeping up or even beating a Vette.

But the main question is, are we talking about 1/4 mile racing or street racing?

haha you guys just don't know.

2550 pounds (round up to 2600) with 210 whp
3781 pounds (round up to 3800) with ~300 whp

for every 100 pounds = ~10 hp. M3 has a 1200 disadvantage, which ~120 whp. civic wins. torque u say? Well, we can do the same formula for torque, if you want.

turbo k20a? h*ly crap, that would smoke the **** out of a base corvette. Take a GOOD long look at the vid I posted up in one of the earlier pages ... k20a EK hatch. 2300 pounds plus the weight of two people in it and it still pulls like a ****ing BEAST from 25-95 mph.

btw, there are bolton k20a eg hatches running 12's easily. No, I take that back ... there are k20a EK COUPES running 12's ... boltons and hondata with GIRLS driving them.

1) m3'S go for just over 50k, no one in theyre right mind would pay 70k for it

2) I have multiple videos of turbo'd RSX-S racing M3's and barely winning, I know boltons really help the K20 but not enough to keep up with an M3

3) k20 with boltons in a civic will get you in the high 13's low 14, M3's run low 13's. You can expect to hang with S2000's, 350z's Evolutions, and Camaro SS's. And you will be able to beat Mustang GT's WRX's and RSX-S

I drive my dads 2001 M3 6-speed occasionally and I can tell you first hand that your gonna need much more than bolt ons to keep up. Espically above 80, it just keeps pulling and pulling

^^ high 13's with boltons? not sure about that. I have a vid of this chick driving a full interior k20a swapped ep3 (heavy) with i/h/e/hondata/slicks that ran a high 12. Same girl who's doin the 12.7 ek coupe ... same girl who's doin the 12.3 eg hatch.

Our cars are at least 200 pounds lighter than the ep3's. Like I said above, there are hatches running 12's easily and I don't think that just because I have a coupe that it will add over a full second to that time.

also, in one of my earlier posts, I raced an 01+ m3 from 80-120 in my turbo car and was dead even ... did that twice. Also raced an h22 cx hatch with i/h/e was dead even. vid goin around of k20a swapped dc2 owning an h22 cx hatch. Nutshell bolton k20a > m3 ... in the hands of a good driver.

The DC5 and EP3 weigh about the same. The EM2 EX weighs almost 200 lbs less. Add the K20A2 and you a about 100 lbs less then. The DC5 has some extra goodies that add alittle more weigh. Hell there is 2 DC5s on ClubRSX.com that are running high to mid 12s all motor. One of them weighs in at 2200 lbs and has I/H/E/Toda Cams/K-pro/ and a few other things.

dc5 weighs about 100 pounds lighter than ep3, actually ... according to edmunds.com.

2200 pound rsx running low to mid 12's ... about as much as a hatch. I plan to be full interior since I am not building a race car. So yeah ... about 2600 for me with motor. (note that '04 civics weigh 50 pounds more than '01-03, also according to edmunds)

hm, if that is the case ok. I thought you were talking about the k20a3 being in the different shells. However, adding 100 pounds weight to my car is not accurate, since the base and the type s are the same car, different motor, but there are more things than just the motor that make it heavier. Same as dx, lx, ex.

either way, I'll still be ~150-200 pounds lighter than a stock type s/ep3. (cf hood, no spare, dc5r suspension)
