I think he goes for the sushi.

I hated my BMW. I hated it. I couldn't stand it. It was crap. Reason being why it was a year old and I sold it with a little over 5K miles. I test drove the 330 once...crap. Test drove a M3....crap. Test drove the M5, now THAT my friends, whew!!...crap.

s2000 owns e36 m3? Nope
e36 m3 owns s2000? Nope

Between the e36 m3 and s2000 I'd say it comes down to preference.....both are equally as fast. I have read many threads both on bimmerforums.com and s2ki.com where members have have tough decisions choosing between the e36 m3 or s2000.

okay now....reliability.....hmmm about those s2k differentials....oh yeah....they break.

....just tryin to spice up this healthy discussion goin on here....

as for a modern german car that I would like, an E36 m3 lightweight would rock. Other then that Im all japanese. The current crop of bimmers is a little dissapointing. Most the new porsches are a little off too, gettin kind of heavy for sports use. VW might be a real contender once they get a real rearend in their cars but this solid axle "semi indipendant" crap isnt going to cut it forever. Amg mercedes are more show then go, that comes from a trusted friend not a magazine article by the way. While im diagnosing the car industies problems I might add that nissan needs to lighten its crap up in a big way and the sentra could really use IRS, real IRS. The civic is extremly safe, as are most hondas. I will take a deformed chassis and a totaled car over a solid one and a funeral any day. The goal in a crash is to distribute and absorb energy away from the occupants thus minimilizing the force exerted on the occupants. The goal is not to plow a hole into whatever is in your way. The civic is very good at this, as is the jetta and most other small cars.

All new cars crumple, have you seen what happens to the new VW GTI the front completely crmples and the engine drops. Its a safety feature to help absorb some energy.

hey remember that this or that forum????

i asked this same question

i would pick nsx or skyline or altezza or etc over vws any day

oh and i just changed my friends headlights in his 2004 jetta and they ARE hella harder.... the bulb is clipped on like ours but then theres a plastic cover and then a wire to plug into the bulb that goes into the plastic and then on the other side of the plastic theres more wires to the car and then theres another clip to hold on the plastic. oh and all this is somehow cramped into just enough room for me to scrape the crap outta my hand.

ya know everytime someone thinks of JDM they think of Type-R, GT-R blabla, etc, those high performance race machines. yea sure those are nice but people over look the luxury cars they pump out. How bout the Cedric? Gloria? Cima? Crown? anyone? i'd definitely take a slammed, VIP'd out Nissan President or Toyota Celsior over any Mercedes or Bimmer. No joke. Well thats just my opinion, JDM vehicles all the way baby.

Great thread for my current situation - We leased a 2001 VW Passat - tons of problems - we have had tons of little quirky problems such as the engine light false alarms, oil being consumed in 3 weeks, the same headlight melting then blowing on the second bulb, the trunk latch falling off, and tons of other quirks I can't remember. We just bought an Acura TL - we're very glad we did! The passat just gave us aggrivation! JDM all the way!

Depends on what type of performance you are looking for. acceleration, sure they're pretty good. Handling.... They leave much to be desired. (Stupid Tortion Beam Rear suspension, and they are Netoriously Nose heavy... Especially the VR6.

Me, I'll take a car that handles well over a car that just accelerated well.

See, my Audi handles pretty good. When Im at like 70mph, the car lowers by itself...then, it gradually gets higher the slower you go, or lower the faster you go. And then when I turn, you dont feel it, but, the car leans to a side, blah, whatever.

Vanos is just like everything else made now

Double vanos varies the lift on the exhaust cam as well if im not mistaken, but it really is just like Ivtec, or VVTLi

I don't know the differences between IVTEC and VTEC......but double VANOS is continuously varying intake and exhaust timing of the cams and is smooth and continuous throughout the powerband and doesn't have that jump in power like the ''on/off'' VTEC so to speak.

although, single vanos is an on/off type deal....but is still smooth though the power band
