ok get this. I just came back from a Firestone at a mall a few miles from my place.
They gave me some garbage about how the steering wheel won't be straight after the alignment because of my springs (Eibach ProKit 1" drop). And when they were finished, the steering wheel was even more crooked than when I brought it in. I bitched and bitched but all they gave me was "the springs." and that was from the guy in charge
They were kind enough to offer to center the steering wheel at the price of another alignment! WTF I was pretty sure steering wheel centering was part of a full alignment WTF $76 down the drain today
The reason why I went to them in the first place is because I felt confident they'll do a good job since they're big named and fancy large stores etc. (Kind of like the same reason why I used to get my oil changes at Honda instead of JiffyLube or Greasemonkey). I guess bad service comes with big business
Then I went to a smaller local auto shop Scott Tire/Goodyear, and I told them and they were like
about those Firestone guys. They told me to come by tomorrow morning to get the job done right. I've always gone to this small shop for tire mounting, balancing; but I didn't want an alignment there because it didn't look as up-to-date as Firestone at the mall. Should not judge a book by its cover

I used to go to a big shop for alignment on a laser alignment machine. 7 times, and the car still pulled to the right. I found this hole in the wall tire shop down the road, so I tried them. They align the old fashioned way, on 4 little turntables for the wheels. Best alignment EVER! I always go to them now. Support your small business. They frequently do much better work. They HAVE to, in order to survive.

if I were you I would go back to firestone and bitch at them and tell them to get your steering wheel straight. First they said they couldnt do it because of your springs, but funny how they said for the price of another alignment, they would do it. Just sounds like they were trying to rip you off. I have the sportlines, and my steering wheel is straight as hell. I would go back and demand they fix it or ask for your money back. Dont let them hassle you man, auto places do it all the time. You are paying for a service and if they dont do it right or you are unhappy, you dont have to pay. And most of the time, if a service is performed not right, you, the customer, can bring your car back and have them fix it for free. And if they dont fix it, I will contact the BBB or contact someone at the firestone corp. because now you are out $76 and have to pay more somewhere else for what firestone should have done in the first place.
