Honda needs a bunch more cars. They only have a couple of vehicles compared to other car manufacturers. They have consistently sold a lot more trucks, even though they only have a few. Also, like mentioned, car buyers are a little more hesitant now more than ever when purchasing a new car. So that could be contributing to slower sales.
Overall though, I think Honda is actually fairing a little better than some other manufacturers. I don't see any rebates on their cars. They'll add another model soon. They also have two hybrids, which will climb in sales as the gas prices soar and the summer comes.

with the economy issues... i'm studying economic as my major and who knows i may kick that old fu*k that make the government decision and take over for decision making. can we all say "we love money" and "Love to spend it"
Honda going down? Sounds like a crock of BS! The plant I work at produces automatic transmission components for all the North American Honda/Acura automobiles. They have been going strong - my dept usually working 50 hours a week. Some of the depts work 50 hours during the week and an additional 8 hours on Sat. This plant continues to grow - started with around 100 workers in 1989 and now closing in on 500. If Honda is going down we sure don't see it where I work.
Also, just last month, Honda celebrated the opening of its second assembly line at the already realtively new Alabama plant. I've always known Honda to be very frugal with it's manufacturing capabilities, refraining from over-producing any of it's products (having a low pre-dealer inventory), wouldn't open a second line unless there certainly was a demand.
Honda has something that other Japanese car companies do not- Whether this is just perception or not, Honda has the US market and its rivals in the auto industry always anticipating it's new products. Even with minimal advertisement, people are always talking about and waiting for the new Honda "this or that" and has a sort of a "halo" over its image if you will.
This brand image perception driven by innovative cutting edge technology with things like ASIMO and the new Honda business jet are just the things that make me feel confident in Honda's future.

Honda is healthy but does not have the US market. What I stated previously was:
"Honda has the US market and its rivals in the auto industry always anticipating it's new products."
But I agree that I'm biased toward Honda products since I own stock in the company. Just look at my sig. I'm a loyal Honda customer, but not without reason...I think the products are very good.

The thing that I dont understand is all the people complaining that the d17 is sooo slow. Honda didnt make you buy a civic, Honda didnt tell you it was 200hp and stick a 115 or 127hp engine in it,Honda didnt tell you they were faster than ohter manufacturers(sp?) cars. You knew that the 2001-2004 civic wasnt a fast car when you bought it or had it bought for you. So why are you complaining? If you wanted a fast car you should have bought a fast car. I have an 02 civic, I knew it was slow when I bought it, I tell my friends its slow, But im not gonna blame honda, it was the car I chose.
