I haven't driven a prelude, but let me tell you that the stock 240 handles way better than some people think. In it's stock form my 240 was vaaastly superior in the handling dept compared to the civic.

I've been driving 240's for the past 9-10 years. I have done swaps in two of them, but rest assured that the stock 2.4l powerplant is a very reliable daily driver.

As far as maintenance, the 240 is a very staight-forward car to work on. And it also has a very loyal following- www.zilvia.net , www.freshalloy.com , www.240sx.org , www.club240.org http://www.heavythrottle.com/ . That's just off the top of my head.

I dont know what kind of 240 you have been driving, but my friends 98 needed some work to take corners as well as mine does, but then again I have superglue-esqe tires, so that probably helped alot.

I just bought a 92 240SX LE (leather hehe) and i LOVE IT!!! I like it way more than my honda (93 Civic EX). . . More power, RWD, and not EVERYONE has them. I know 240s are getting alot of attention now, but it still feels good knowing that only a few people like 240s and not 14 year old girls that think they are cute with 10' tall spoilers. Although i know no one on this forum is a ricer ;D!

Maybe you're thinking about the Volvo 240?........J/K Anyway it's pretty easy for me to compare the two cars (civic and nissan 240sx), because they're both sitting in my driveway. And I have had mucho experience behind the wheel of both cars which is why I said what I did. I'm not a huge fan of the newer s14's(such as your friends '98), but could it have been the driver and not the car that makes you say that?

I owned a 300ZX and had no problems other than staying under the speed limit and trying not to burn out at a stop light. That was my baby, my dream and I will own another before I die. I never had a problem with it at all and was basically my best friend. Not to mention it is one of the most beautiful cars that are on the road.

To those who think that there isn't much potentional in the 300ZX, you need to do much more research on a legend. The car that was a part of the legendary twin turbo years. The Mazda RX-7, Toyota Supra, and the Nissan 300ZX. DAMN, those were cars.

Hey guys - I just want to thank everyone for your input. I didn't expect to get as large of a response as I got. But anyway - thanks! I have made my decision to go with the Prelude though. The 240sx with a swap sounds attractive but I don't plan on doing a swap and stock performance and reliability is what I'm really looking for. The 300zx is also appealing but I still feel the lude will have better reliability. If I ever have some extra $$ I think I'll pick up a 240sx or 300zx for cheap a couple years down as a project car - but for now a lude is in my future - the only problem - now I have to hunt one down. Dealers mark them up way more than I'm willing to spend so I'm looking private - found some decent ads but still looking - anyone know someone seeling a 97-01 lude?

Thanks again to everyone who put their 2 cents in!
