I thought this was a good article on Acura, and I thought I would share it.

I think Acura's sales are going to grow higher and higher. Judging by the percentage of sales, I also think they should get a second SUV in there ASAP...

I'm all for acura. Honda can do it. Any of you gearheads should go read up on what Honda did to the Euro F1 series it's 1st year in. I, for one, am praying for a repeat in the civilian sector.

I'm a fan of F1, and their first season back in F1 wasn't exactly anything worth bragging about (not compared with their domination of the turbo era in the late 80's).

Interior in acuras run very cheap to those of the German line. Also they havent a car to date that can come close to performing with them. There desighns are also to conservative.
I predict that sales will sputter than sink like a rock as for Honda itself...its main profit is the accord and civic which its going to loose the civic to Toyotas Scion division. The accord still best car for the buck out there.
It's called Formula One, not "European F1." There is only one series of Formula One racing, it isn't like other series, such as F3, where you have German F3, Asian F3, etc...
Their prowess in the first F1 series they competed in came not from the fact that they won, because they didn't, but making a car, running in a pre-established field and actually placing gives them the brownie points IMO. How many other manufacturers do you know who have entered the league in recent years and not been stomped out of any kind of runnings? How many of the more-established teams in F1 get bumped down a notch when honda entered.
If I'm wrong, I'll conceed, no worries there, and I don't keep up with F1 as much as some of you do. If I recall correctly, however, honda did a lot better in it's first series than a lot of the big-wigs predicted they would. They're still no Ferrari, BMW or McLaren, though

I'd likely agree with you on the late 80's, Majarvis, but I wasn't much into racing back then.
The principle is still the same, Honda does great things when they decide to put their minds to it. Once again, pardon me if I've mis-spoke.
I sure as hell hope Honda dosen't sputter and die. You forget that not all of us like woodgrain in our cars and prefer plastic interiors, they're quite easy to care for and well-wearing. The Scion line has potential, I'll give it that, but I don't think it will ever eclipse Honda's lead on the "tuner" market. Especially not if the next-gen civics come with K engines under their bonnets.

I think Acura should release a smaller SUV that is modeled after the CRV...Just make it more luxerious and more tough. I think that would do well to boost their sales. I think alot of people are into modding SUV's now. The Acura MDX is nice but kind of Pricey....I think they need something to compete with the SCION, ELement, Murano, Xterra, Axiom, Equinox, Escape etc....

"and yet the LOOK just as sick as SOME of those cars do..."
I'm just saying that they look just as sick....i'm not getting into who uses ACTUAL wood in their cars....they're the cheaper version...it's comparing a $30,000 car to a $50,000 car....of course the interior is going to be cheaper, and of course the performance is going to be lower....
and acura designs aren't conservative...they have definitely risen above that point...
they look pretty good to me...
its not like acura can match a 50k bmw with a 30k car. that 20,000 has to be cut back somewhere, and that somewhere is usually the interior. acura now is a good choice for those who can't afford a bmw but still want a stylish luxury sedan

Agreed.
Acura is definatly trying to make its mark on consumers. The recent years in general have been quite impressive. They are finally starting, IMO, to break away from the "rebadged honda feel". Hopefully they will pull it off. I know I've already got my eye on their discontinued CL 3.2 Type R Coupe. Yum.

The EL is just a money maker for acura, cheap affordable luxury. Honestly it is just a over priced Civic, with some suspension tuning , rear disc, leather and auto climate controls.
Same engine, same transmission and same wheel size.
Nothing really special.

Overpriced? Hell yes. But I'm glad I bought it over a Civic. Just my opinion.
EL is Acura's top selling model....gets people into the showroom, which is the only reason Acura Canada is keeping it around. Cause us Canadians are ghetto, LOL.

I would have the acura interior over the BMW anyday...those nasty *** gauges and dirty amber lighting...who gives a fvck about wood..and over all BMW arnt known for their performance, yes they have some cars that can our perform acura but on a whole, their line isnt really based on that. you want to know why BMW is $20,000 more? because they are German, the same reason audi and VW are so expensive.

my dad's 2001 330xi has the most bland entierior EVER, I swear my 88 Grand wagoineer's is more appealing. The lights and guages are all single colored. Regardless if they have real wood, they still dont look as nice as the brushed metal accents in the Acuras IMO.
Also, have you ever SEEN what real wood looks like if you only casually take care of it 20 years down the line....It looks like crap.
