Civic HX coupe

I'm looking at the HX coupe and was wondering how current owners liked the car. Specifically I was interested in its fuel economy. Does the car get the rated numbers (auto: 35/40 mpg, stand: 36/44 mpg)? How do auto tranny owners like the CVT? Is the car peppy in either type of transmission (I would think it's better in the standard)? Finally, I've read that the car has a "hesitation" at times. Is this accurate and does it have to do with a characteristic of the "lean burn" engine?

I'm getting around 34-35 city with a short ram intake and cat back exhaust installed. The car does have a little bit of a hesitation at around 9-10 mph but is nice and smooth after that. Not sure what is causing it but it could be the lack of oxygen in the Colorado atmosphere.

I like mine. I haven't done any "performance" mods to it yet, but it's pretty peppy....for a Civic. I don't get the hesitation like others have talked about. I have the manual trans and have had no problems with anything except that my computer went after about 10,000 miles. I don't know if anyone else had that same problem. And I get about 37-39 mpg on average. Thats mostly highway and some stop and go. I think I need to change my air filter.

Thank you for the link above. I checked it out before I originally posted. The HX's don't seem to be very popular. I checked with two different dealers near my home. Neither one had any. One salesman didn't even know that the HX came with a CVT. Very inspiring!

yea.. they seem very unpopular... is there a reason for this?

it's cheaper and more fuel effiecient than the other models.. hmm.

this is the model i am considering if i get a new civic later on.

Bought an HX in april 2001 since I drive about 1,000 miles a week. Been a great car for me especially considering my situation. Nothing but regular maintainence. I average about 40-45 mpg with a 5 speed, everything stock. I had one tank take me 525 miles.

If your in a similar situation I would recommend this car highly.

115,000 miles and still running strong
