More Torque means More Pull To The Right?!
So I'm heading to lunch with my co-worker and my co-worker said his friend stated that having more torque means that you have more power, but you will also be pulled to the right more.
It sounded ridiculous, but is there any truth to this? I'm guessing this guy just screwed up his alignment while modding his car.

I have had a big increase in torque in my car since I first got it- not sure where it started stock but now it is 189 ft # and yeah it PULLS but to one side specifically I don't think so.
I have been in some muscle cars before though that have pulled like that...

depends.
Cars without an LSD transfer most, if not all, the power to one wheel (unless its AWD, in which case...*** you). Ever see some older honda civics do burnouts, then later when the smoke clears you notice theres only 1 tire mark? sort of like that. All the power is being transfered to one wheel. Usually its the right wheel if your going forward and the left wheel if you're going in reverse.
Now onto the amount of pull you get in a direction...i can see that happening...i guess.

^ ya, wtf that happened to me once. i had a spare set of hubs and tires and was burning them like crazy and then i see a big pile of tire shredding only on the passenger side and a tiny scuff mark on the drivers side.
Okay guys, it's called torque steer. Most FWD cars don't have enough power to suffer from it, but it can be alleviated as before mentioned with an LSD. The Spec V, SRT-4, MSP, Focus SVT all are notorious for torque steer due to the torquey 4 cylinder FWD setups. Main reason for it is that with an open differential setup, there is no even transfer of power from one wheel to the other. In other words, uneven road, drivetrain setup, and many other factors go into which wheel will get more power than the other. With an LSD, they are torque sensitive, and will discriminate power transfer from one wheel to the next continuously to keep traction, alleviate torque steer, and pull you out of the apex of a corner. Hope that helps.
So the answer is YES, You will experience torque steer with an increase in power. Invest in an LSD, but I don't believe they make an LSD to mate with a D17 Tranny setup. If you go the K20 route there is more than likely many available to you.
Tochigi Fuji Sangyo and Quaife are two big name brands for LSD's.

What was said above is probably the case. But could it maybe be even simpler than that? All roads where I am slope toward the curb for drainage. So basicly if there is any upset in the cars traction more often than not it would pull slightly to the right would it not? I mean, assuming your driving on the correct side of the road LOL
yea and if your in a v-8 when you light up the tires with even a lsd like i have or my friends mustang you will dance to the right.... same thing if i power brake in my truck even though both are spining to intiate the limited slip you first have to have some friction on the right side tire first meaning that when you first jump on it, it will float to the right..... atleast this is what i have observed
