Fast compared to a normal Contour maybe, but it is a daily driver Ford, so it won't be fast for long :P Registered!!

Its not that fast i know these people my old neighbors that had one its not fast and ugly . Never raced it in the vic so wouldnt know if it would beat it or not but ridding in it it wasnt fast at all
really?? i looked at the numbers, and thoes numbers were very impressive.. as well as the top speed.. i know that was my first choice in cars, before deciding on the civic.. but if i can get one i'll take that, a 1987 grand national, '96 impalla, but that's about it, to me all other cars are full of ****..

mostly hondas but that grand national for some reason or another is the only domestice that has caught my attention this guy i knew back in high school had a fully restored one it was bad *** sounded sooo good to .
i hate to say it, but a grand national, as well as '96 impallas, are black a black mans dream. and i often dream about it.. but thoes are the only 3 cars, that would be worth my money to really want to buy, outside of buying a car just to be buying one.. it just seems like todays cars are just SO boring, without the power, and muscle to make them worth me buying.. but i love to work on my civic, and mod it out.. that's why i got it... it's eazy to mod..
Um.... SVT Contours are not Supercharged or Turbocharged.....
They are naturally aspirated 24 Valve DOHC V6's with approx 215 hp at around 6,000 rpms.
They are nice though, I was looking for one for months

I used to own a mercury mystique (same as contour) with a non-svt version of the same engine, it was way faster than than the civic. I used to eat up all the imports back in the day, but it was a piece of crap mechanically.
me being from detroit i see the damn svt contours and focus' all the time. i saw at least 6 contours while leaving the detroit auto show......imo they are still made by ford which i am not a fan of at all, and they are still contours. i know a few people that meet up in dearborn on friday's late at night with a bunch of imports and domestics and contours always show up. they just don't appeal to me

The SHO was Ford's first test-baby for using a Japanese motor in an American platform.

Are you under the impression that a Civic even RESEMBLES a sports car or muscle car??? It has 4 friggin seats for Christ's sake! At least the SVT came with leather seats and mini Cobra R's....
**** that.. that contor is killer.. it's small light weight, has good top speed, leather seats, a 6 speed.. it has a good platform in which to mod it out.. i mean ok it's a ford, and that's all people see. but if u know how to fix cars, than it shouldn't be a problem. every car has it's bad spots.. i would only change the exhaust, and have two big *** cannons comming out of the back, instead of thoes two skinny pipes.

According to this forum thread the SVT contour in 2000 made 200hp and did the 0-60mph in 7.6 seconds.
An Si does it in about 8sec, and the RSX-S in about 6secs, so you're looking about midway between the two. Plus you get Ford's award-winning reliability.
I had a 1996 SHO with the V8 automatic. I took on a SVT Contour and beat it. They really aren't that fast. My old '93 Prelude Si could beat it. Both SVTs and SHOs are limited production, high tech cars with expensive engines. The heads on the SHOs are built by Yamaha. Repair bills are high and reliability is questionable. That is the reason I got rid of my SHO. Lucky for me, because I found out later that they have a really bad problem with the cams BREAKING after 60k miles. And yes, mine was very close to that! I also read recently that Ford no longer makes SHO motors, so when it breaks, you go to the junk yard!!
I recommend you pass on the contour and get something more reliable.
