Ford Focus Mach Edition will have stock H.I.D. with projectors.............. in fact, the headlamp assembly looks almost identical to TYC chromes!

When will Honda start offering H.I.D.? They do with Acura, and the low-volume S2000, but nothing in the mass-market yet. Something tells me not to hold my breath, as probably Accord will get it first (due to Altima's HID offering). My guess is that the next generation 2003/2004 VW's Golf/Jetta will offer HID, which will hopefully hope up the doors for compacts having HIDs.

Sure you can go aftermarket, probably cost less too. But there is nothing like having a good, reliable, warrentied OEM equipment.

HID Looks nice and all, but not if you're passing somebody with it. I mean, I can appreciate it's brightness, which probably helps the driver out, but coming in the other direction and getting blinded by it just pisses me off.

And second, I really do NOT like the Focus. What a piece of .. I was UN-lucky enough to drive one a few weeks ago, it was a rental car, and though the handling was nice and responsive, I felt like cheap white trash. And yet, I see them everywhere around town. Other than the attractive price, anybody know why they're so popular? Er, wait .. what was the purpose of this thread again? Sorry, I just felt like venting ..

LOL yep Focus isn't a great car, from quality point of view.

But HIDs are nice, since all OEM ones have auto-leveling system, to minimize the glare for on-coming traffics. ... Okay. Or so they say.

Still, if you drive at night a lot, especially thru country roads, HID would be a nice piece of equipment to have. Nothing better than it to spot deers jumping out in front of you...........

just for thoughts...i was reading the local paper this afternoon and the new svt focus was test driven. anyways, the writer praised how much better it is than the civic si and vw gti. more power, better handling, 6- speed tranny, blah blah blah. and at the end of the article, she mentioned how the focus has 8 safety recalls and the new svt already has a recall regarding the throttle. at that moment i loved my civic more than ever.

Well I can appreciate HID for city driving, where low beams and spotting details are important. But driving on some back country roads (i.e. where I live), by yourself, HID's do not pour out as much light as your high beams, there is a reason no automakers offer HID high beams (bet you never noticed that all OEM HID's are low beams only, thats because there is no performance advantage compaired to the high beams). So if you get them, get them for show, or get them with a set of lights designed for it. LATES

no kidding... damn, we're gonna have to be careful to not mention the name of any competing cars so nobody goes off on some moronic tangent about how much [aforementioned car] sucks

and o1, i totally agree w/ ya on seeing HIDs on hondas... considering they're available on the japanese civics...

Some of the other manufacturers are definately responding to the younger market. I have been driving hondas for 8-9 years now and have always felt a little left out when it comes to power and support from the manufacturer. I still love the reliability and the practical nature of honda though. I don't think honda is going to respond to the new market outside of the si. They already have the rsx for the younger people who want a true honda sport compact. I think honda is mainly aimed at the mass market and will probably continue to be that way.

However, businesses in general are going to suffer in a tremendous way if they do not start developing and marketing products to generation x and especially, generation y.

You must be on crack.... You've never been in a car with projector HID's either. They are bright as hell, and you can see a LOT more than ANY halogen bulbs. They have a wide projection (almost 180 degrees) and you see EVERYTHING that comes in the light. There is no comparison.

By the way, they also offer HID high beams, and those are bright as hell too. Compare the halogen high beams with HID high beams and you can see much further, better, and clearer than with the halogen.

And yeah, LOW BEAM HID's will not show as much as high beam halogen, because ... duh, they are low beams. But now take HID high beams and halogen high beams.... see above.
