I was thinking the same thing at first.. since it's roughly the same size as our cars... but a lot of smaller VW Golfs/Jettas are 3000+lb. Most of that weight goes into the "quality" of the cars, like thicker doors, and more subtantial interior materials. I have a feeling it's the same with this Scion tC...

Yeh, true. Then again, look at the integra.. 2600,2700 lbs.. its built pretty well as far as i know.. also has a smaller engine tho which could contribute to the lower wt. 1.8L compared to 2.4.

Naw, the quality on the Integras are pretty ****. I mean, it's good for it's time, but really shitty compared even against our Civics. Then there's VW's interior, which is very upscale, soft to the touch, and doors close with authority.

Even the new Corolla's interior materials is really nice now, closer to VW than ever. But it's sibling, the Celica, has 80's hard-plastic feel.... contributing to its nice 2400lb curb weight.

Quality = Mass .............. can't help it. It's a double-edged sword.

i'm thinking about trading my 03' lx in for the scion tc. blue book and what i owe are pretty within each other. i won't be losing too much if i do, besides the $3000 i've paid for it thus far. but my sister is talking me out of it, she says i'll end up getting that and then there will be something else better that will come along (always is), and then what. does any one know how much they are going for, besides right under $20,000? i'm guessing around $17,000 msrp.
