Has your car been stolen or broken into
Damn, my friend's car was stolen in MD the cops looked for it for a bit then they found it about a month later, it was all fuked up.. He asked for them to dust for prints they told him that they don't do that for cars.
Can anybody tell me if this alarm is any good?

If not what is a good alarm from a $200-$275 range. Thanks.

I have a viper 600. It's okay, but you really need to add to it.
--backup battery
--second, hidden siren
--hood and trunk protection
Disconnect the trunk release cable!! You don't know how many stupid thieves will pull it and run away when the trunk doesn't open.
Your goal here is to make the alarm nearly impossible to turn off. Either they will give up and run, or stay and risk someone seeing them anyway. Immobilizer does not work on any new civic. Just pretend like you don't have it.

One thing i would get for it would be another siren like said above. They make one that has its own battery which charges itself, if the wire gets cut it will still go off.

I like the siren with it's own battery. Someone said you need a key to turn it off. That way the siren won't stop until the battery runs out.
99 4dr VP. broken into twice last year....the year i got it. the first time, the rear passenger window was smashed and my friend's bag was taken. partially my fault for leaving a bag out on the seats while watching a movie..on a busy street. the second time was the driver's side rear passenger window, the little triangular one that costs more to replace than the big window. this time they took a bunch of my CD/CDRs. i had 2 cases of CDs and they only took one. they also took a pair of Rollerblade flip-flops i had in my trunk (cause i'm filipino and i have to wear my flip-flops everywhere...or at least be ready to wear them
). they left something in return for all the CD/CDRs and flip-flops that they took. they left a can of brake caliper paint. i also just noticed a few days ago, someone may have tried to break into my car. would have been 3 times in one year. there were marks on the small triangular window like someone was trying to cut out the weather stripping. there is absolutely nothing on my car. it's completely stock, cept for the intake. just goes to show you...doesn't matter what your car looks like on the outside, once a thief has decided to try to get into your car, he's going for it.
cost: about $500 to replace both windows.

the key uses a frequency to tell the computer to let the ignition system run, but that can be over-riden a number of ways. if you have a stick shift, all you do is push the car till you get around 3-5 mph, and pop the clutch while the car is in gear (ignition must be running, i.e, hot wiring or a screwdriver in the key cylinder.) the car starts.

thats
they definately dust for prints on cars. that guy musta been lazy or somethini moved into my new house in aug this year, and by the fist week of september, my car was sitting in my driveway went to bed around 1, went to go to work aat 9 and it was broken into. my own freaken driveway. they tried the door lock, dented the door a little, and when that didnt work they busted out the rear corner window and stole the clarion cd player. they did very little damage, luckily, and all they took was the cd player, and it was a very clean job. that night 14 other cars were broken into in my neighborhood (which only had a few houses att he time cause its a new subdivision), and the neighborhood about 3 miles away.
anyways, the next day when cop came and he dusted for prints, but didnt get any. he was a very nice guy btw. oh yea, and we had no alarm on it. still dont *shrugs*

I got my 01 Civic Ex broken into last month. I got just about everything taken out. (Amp, Subs, CD's, DVD system, Military records, uniforms, and a DVD or two) My insurance won't cover anything inside the car, but will pay for the outside damage. I did have a factory alarm, but the insurance won't cover that now (cause I didn't report it being installed by the dealer).
I sure wish my car was newer

My friend's 1998 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP was broken into a few months ago. Inside the car, he had an aftermarket head unit, subs, and various other things of value. What'd the thieves take? His BACKPACK. So, he lost his binders for school and had to get his drivers' door handle fixed.
Had no alarm.

mine was broken into twice. once was in the locked up lot of a body shop, and the other was in a hotel parking lot. i have a 2k1 civic ex coupe and there was no alarm. Both times the stereo subs and amp were taken. Insurance covered me the hotel time and the body shop paid for their mistake.
I had my civic broken into Christmas 02'. They smashed my driverside window while popping my B pillar out a little bit with a crobar or something. Tryed getting my headunit out, but ended up messing it up instead. Tried getting my tweeters out, but couldn't. Left CD's and my Oakley's (Ti-Wires $200+) in the glove box. Broken window and door damage. Insurace covered some of it, but the guy was a real a-Hole.
