Not me personally but once my dad was picking up something from his parents apartment so he left the top down in his S2000, he was only gone for mabey 10 minutes if that and his seats were jacked, it costed a **** load to replace them.
1995 hyundai sonata. Viper alarm, didnt do ****. Got my sound system stolen, which was worth about 1000 dollars in value.
My old 87 Jetta. They broke the window and got my kenwood deck. I really think an alarm helps, but extra precautions have to be taken.
1) Get a second, hidden siren
2) Tie down the trunk from inside
3) Take off deck faceplate
4) If parking in ghetto, take out and unplug entire center console, including deck.
5) Use some sort of brake lock device.
Don't rely on the immobilizer system or a plain aftermarket alarm. They are crap without more security.

I was lucky, with my faceplate left on and wallet in the glovebox these pussies smashed my driver side window and popped my trunk open to get at my 2 ported Comp VR's.. I still miss them but now have an L7 replacement, had a stock alarm at the time that went off only because the trunk was open longer then 5 minutes, peice of ****.

Sorry to hear all that **** guys.. My **** every had to go through that stuff knock on wood
Car was broken into once a couple of years ago. They stole my tezza's if you can beleive that.
They did about $3500 damage to my car in the process just trying to get them out. Dumbass' tried to pry the trunk open then smashed out a window and flipped the latch. Nothing else was stolen from the car but they broke into 4 other cars in my parking lot the same night. I found something from my neighbours car in my trunk in the morning.
Irony is that I took that Friday off to get my new alarm installed. I've never had a problem since.

yea alarms can save u lots just cause they much more work for the theives and they just look for other cars inless they really want somthing off urs
I've got an LED on each of the Tweeter pods so they're visible at all angles.
i had my 02 ex vic broken into at work.. they jimmied the door and stole my stereo system, radar detector and some cd's. i had the crappy stock alarm and still do, i never wasted the money getting another nice stereo.. my friends car which is an accord and they some how were able to pop the hood by pulling the cable that releases it from the underside fender. they took his stereo, deck, intake and msd ignition and caused some body damage.. i hate that parking lot!
ya my 01 Lx was broken into, they took the whole center piece with the ***** for heat/ac and the head unit and i had a viper alarm
they also stoll 50 cd's a sony xplode amp/ 2 10 inch jbl subs "sigh" o well life sucks
they also stoll 50 cd's a sony xplode amp/ 2 10 inch jbl subs "sigh" o well life sucksDamn, that sucks people. I have been lucky so far. But I've had friends that have been broken into numrous times.
my 02 dx has been broken into twice. both times they tried to jimmy the doors AND pry the doors open, but the DX has cable locks unlike all other models which have rods. anyways, the first time was at work, in a busy parking lot, in broad day light, at a mall.. when i got to my car after some people saw what happened, i ran out and it was too late. he got away with a POS sony radio, and a box i had in my back seat filled with personal items that meant alot to me which i guess i'll never see again. this was about $2300 in damage: broken window, dented side panel, completely destroyed dash board (see my ride for pics.)
the second time happened in front of my house. nearly the same thing.

What do you think would be better an alarm, or one of those things that goes over your clutch or brake? Or both? I really wanted a viper alarm, but the fact that my friends si got stolen which was litterally 20ft away from a 1 story building my friend was in, kind of turns me off. He said the alarm never went off, but i find that hard to believe but still it was stolen right from under him. I still may get a viper, but im going to install it my self, not some shop.
they popped the hood and pulled the fuse. thats how they managed to get into the car without setting the alarm off. get a back up battery and multiple sirens.
ya they used a slim jim to get into my car, and ignored the alarm and pulled the fuse out for the alarm and broke my driver window, im gettin a back up battery like u said skip

I hate the viper, it's all show. I used to have one on my old vic and it never worked. I went out and spent some bog $$ on a top of the line Clifford system. Sure it doesn't have the fancy sounding chirp but who gives a **** in the grand scheme of things, my car is safer.Originally posted by quick83

I have a 01 lx sedan, and its been broken into once in a school parking lot, in broad day light! They just stole the amp, thank god I always carry around my headunit, and didnt have my subs at the time. Anyway, i had a stock alarm, but that soon changed
.
.My 00 DX Hatch was broken into in front of my house. They stole the Kenwood Deck, Cheap AMP and Subs, 50 CDS. Insurance took care of most of it. They were Pro-ish getting into the car, but they left finger prints all in the inside of the window. hmmm. The Cops took the prints and filed them...
Now i ride stock, with about 8 CDs <--copies CDRs , in the car.
We need to bring back some vigilante justice.

this is why i dont sport aftermarket stereo... cuz they'll assume i have other goods.
and why the exterior is stock.
I'm paranoid that when I have the body kit on, i'll attract more crap... last thing i want to see is some ******* attempting to pull my kit off my car.

you can mash all the ignition wires together and push start the car.
