Toyota Corolla XRS
Toyota has a new competitor for the Civic Si coming out, kinda...It's a Corolla XRS, which is basically a Corolla with a 170 HP/ 127lb/ft Torque Engine and 6-Speed Manual Transmission from the Matrix XRS and Celica GT-S. Also includes 4 Wheel Disc Brakes, Fogs, Sport Suspension, 16" wheels, Strut Tower Brace, rear trunk lid spoiler and racing seats. No word on price. Of note, TRD offers a Supercharger for the Matrix & Corolla for approx $3k, but I don't know if they are available for the XRS models, if so, it would be a potent little econobox! The supercharger for the base models adds 40HP and 38lb/ft of torque. Too bad Honda didn't do something like TRD...

Yeah I had one for a rental for a couple of days and I hated it. The Corolla is really high and the steering is weird. I notice that when you let go of the wheel it doesn't just gently roll back to center, it springs back really fast. I just didn't like it.
Oh, and notice in the interior pictures....They still use the Elephant ***** stick shift. Man, that thing could make a horse blush...

Blah blah blah, it's still a corolla, it's still a neon, it's still a miata, it's still a whatever, damn shut up already. The car stock will blow your car off the line. Handling is a different story. But here's some breaking news
IT'S STILL A CIVIC!!!
Grow up already. New cars come out. Cars get dated and older, and it's a fact of life that there's always someone better or faster out there. Why don't you just be thankful for what you have?

lease: There's alot of grammas that drive civics too ever think of that? Corollas have been known to be slightly quicker than civics. Granted they're ugly, but just because you think it looks ghey doesn't mean it won't smoke your punk ***.EDIT civicdude your corolla/prizm looks exceptional though. They usually just seem to bland to me though.

Whatever!

Oh and that's all anyone cares about right? Reliability, looks, comfort, handling, fuel economy, resale value, availiablity of aftermarket parts... all that means nothing. I'm going to get a TOYOTA COROLLA because it can "blow me off the line" LOL!
Whatever!

lease: If anything they're equals. It all comes down to your taste. But this XRS is nothing to take lightly.Did I say that the only thing people care about is power? No. I don't even care for power myself, I'm an auto x and road racing fan. I was simply pointing out that there are people on this board who go into this denial if you will, about their civic whenever a car with better stats comes out. Aftermarket? Give me a break. Does the aftermarket for the 2001+ civic look good? Have we seen good gains from anything less of a turbocharger or motor swap? I didn't think so. Keep in mind TRD offers a supercharger for this vehicle WITH A WARRANTY.
Haha and don't talk reliability issues with Toyota. They have a better track record than Honda by a long shot.
Oh yeah, where in the fvck did I mention that this is the only thing people care about? This is simply a response to some idiot saying "it's still a corolla." You people never cease to amaze me.

Look, it's fine if you want to shout down people who love civics and hate Corollas. Whatever. It's the old standby "civics are slow" that bugs me. Who cares, we are talking about economy cars here. I'm not out to say that civics aren't slow, I'm just sick of the constant harping on it. I didn't say that all you care about is power, but you're only response to the people that blindly bash other cars was that stpuid old "oh yeah well they could blow you off the line". It was childish and pointless. I just want people to acknowledge that most civic owners didn;t buy them for blinding speed.
BTW, if in the meantime the automatic "every other compact sucks" standbay from civic owners went away... I'd be happy with that. I don;t think we disagree to much...

Couple of things:
1. Sorry about the repost
2. This is a 2005 Model Year car.
3. I'm not sure if the Superchager is available for that motor, but that would be very nice. The fact that it is warrantied with the motor is amazing though, I really wish Honda would do the equivalent.
4. It's basically like the FP packaged, but you get more than just suspension performance. For about $22k you'd have one fast economy car!
