Well see in the main post the peson said they had to swerve and passed a buncha cars GOING THE SPEED LIMIT. Now if this is true or not I dunno, but I hate people who take their sweet *** time on the on ramp. It puts me in danger when that lane merges and I have a semi going faster coming right into my *** and not his...

The on ramp is for accelerating to the speed of the freeway. Get used to it and do it right and no problems with merging will happen either...don't be a p*ssy. If your a p*ssy then ride the city bus. Get up to speed on on ramps and I have no problems with you.

I speed all the time, because everyone in Southern california speeds...it is kill or be killed out here (most of the time) people are cruising at 80mph in the fast lane, then some ricer boys who think they are hot sh*t in their civics go up the right and cause trouble and accidents....those guys I think should be *** raped by a black guy with a 20 inch dong and no lube.

As far as buying a fast car and driving it slow. It is up to the driver. Some people may feel the time isn't right to take off like a bat outa hell. Once you get older you will see what I mean. Heck I take out my dad's crossfire on occasion and get it to 120 on roads that are never used. He's also taught me to do doughnuts in it, then when we go anywhere in it (other then deserted roads) both he and I drive like responcible adults...most of the time.

Also a lot of it has to do with image, and conservation of gas. It takes a lot more gas to floor your vehicle to 50mph then to do it at a more reasonable rate of acceleration. I certainly think that people in their aston martins and jags have a lot more money then I do and despite being reasonably fast cars they are also expensive to own...why make it more expensive by taking a chance of wrecking it?

Also it you think accords are "fast" you need to get out more. No honda CAR is fast, well except the formula 1 car but I'm talking production vehicles. Hondas are commuter cars and always will be, sure the accord has a v-6 wow! But a weak V-6....anyway I'll stop and let the hardcore Honda fanatics flame me for dissing their cars....

Just because you have the power, dont flaunt it. Maybe they are breaking in their car. Maybe they have to go to work, so they pay off the mortgage and raise that two year old. Maybe they are not fully awake, maybe they more important things on their minds. I have a problem with it too. Its the wonderful world we live, so like everyone else in the world, suck it up or do something about it. And that does not mean posting something on the web so all the people in their cars can read it and finally do what you want them to do.

(so i guess I loose a couple points for hittin up the right person instead of biotchin about it on the web????)

I guess this is a forum about general auto ramblings and has nothing to do with the driver. Civics are fast, well i guess you have to know how to drive it first. But how much safer do you feel in your car now, after all the mods? Just pretend you do not feel safe in your car, would you still drive it fast. Dont get me wrong you do not need to drive fast to learn how a particular car handles....

well after all that, I guess you are ultimately tryin to say that the world evolves around you(the person reading this and thinkin what is this guys problem? then wonderin why I am venting about people and how they think when they are driving and how people think in general. then ask yourself, if this is related to what the original poster said...) and that the real problem is you.

Just a thought and i guess my opinion. what do you say to a person that defends the ordinary person and not the plantiff???

keep in mind that there is a difference between being quick and fast.

all cars can be fast, but not all are quick.

sp what do you consider fats and what do you consideder quick? Is doing 100-130 fast?? because there are lots of people who get their civics here up to that speed! I consider that damn ****ing fast.Or quick,my civic can dart out into traffice no problem at the drop of a dime and can easily go from 40 on the on ramp hit hit 80mph like nothing, and well i consider that quick. But I also drive alot of WOT.Sure it's not a v8 mustang or a wrx which i know can do all the about without breaking a sweat, but that not to say I have no problem doing what i need to get done with my car.And yeah I know that according to most people here are honda are neither fast nor quick but mine sure does it good enough for me!

that is a very good point. I can be driving 90mph in a civic and a STI next to be could be driving 90mph also. We are both driving "fast" but there is a big difference in how "quick" the sti can get to 90mph than my civic.

Drive however you want...

If you endanger other people, then your an a$$hole.

Get your "jollies" out when your *** is the only one being risked. Too many idiots try to show off and late one night wreck their cars while it's full of friends, or they smash into some mini-van that's backing out of the driveway and kill a family. I have no remorse nor love for that wreckless "fool".

Now, on the flip side, if the timing is appropriate... get on that gas pedal and enjoy that big toy you spend so much time waxing and upgrading. Have fun, toss it through the corners, fool around, and live a little.

I only brought this up for discussion. I rarely go a few miles over the speed limit, since getting tickets isn't for me. But there are so many problems with traffic here that I notice it more. On a 40mph road that I drive on many times a week, most of the people go below the limit. Same goes for the freeway. I think I should have made it clearer that this is more about safety. I get really pissed when a car is on the ramp going 45mph and semis are passing at 65mph while I'm trying to merge. My civic can't get up to speed that fast. I think the poeple here have really bad reaction time as well.

Oh and even in my slow civic I still floor it around every now and then. Driving after midnight is great--maybe a handful of cars on the road.

I understand the part about older people getting an expensive car and driving it cautiously. But why get an RX-8, evo, or STi? For the acceleration and power! Don't tell me otherwise, because they were made for that purpose. If I had one, I wouldn't be driving it slow (but not speeding either). I'm happy with my civic and really didn't care too much about power when I got it. It's fast enough and looks good.

Not here they're not. Maybe they just don't pay attention? Almost noone here goes the speed limit--only below it.

I hear ya. I hate that very much. That and getting back on the highway after stopping at a rest stop. That's when it is fun AND legal to go fast--you need to be going at least 60 when merging.

I get behind some people that do 45 as they are merging into 65+ traffic on the highway. That is why there is always traffic around rest areas. If people merged at the right speed, there wouldn't be a jam there.

Okay, I'm done.

why does it take you so long to hit 65 on a ramp from 45mph.....What I do is go up the ramp at 45 and as soon as I hit the top I put the pedal to the floor and force a wide open throttle which brings what ever gear im into just about redline and i get my car takes off and hit 70mph in no time flat,in fact i usually pull ahead of all the people comming my way...since here in mass people drive at least 70-75mph and usually 80mph...but like i said i have no problem getting to those speed once my car is rolling?

Even on Rt.18 at 7:30am?! Just try and do more than 20mph merging from the Turnpike
