why buy a fast car...
Why buy a fast car and never drive it fast? It boggles my mind. I've seen V6 accords out there going slower than the speed limit. I've even seen an RX-8 around here with an older guy who drives it like a civic. I've also seen an evo driving around. Followed him for a good 10 mins through town and nothing. Most of the time, my civic beats everyone when I get in up to 3k rpms before it shifts.
Oh and why do people go so slow getting on the freeway? Are they scared to go fast? Most cars around here will still be at 45mph when merging. I was first getting on the ramp once, so I floored it and caught up to this guy going 40 and the end of it. Had to cut into the left lane and proceed to pass about 10 cars in less than a minute while going the speed limit.
Sorry for the rant, but maybe this has to do with insurance here being so high. So what do you think about why people get fast cars and drive them slow? Why not just get a slow car to begin with and save $$?

that boggle smy mind too, which is why I gave up on getting faster cars.My 4dr lx gets me where i need to go plenty fast!hell i did a run on the highway at 3am the other night to see how fast i could go and i hit 110 with 3 people in car befor ethe governor kicked in! my little slow civic is always flying by mustangs and other sports cars too.
I mean I used to be into the build up a huge 1000hp car and ****...but the reality is oncce you get on public roads then what are you gonna do with it!?!? which is now why i'm basically into building a great sounding stereo system with massive amount of dampening to eliminate road noise and making my car look nice.Guess you can say i'm more show than go now.but oh well.Don't get me wrong though i still am gonna build up my engine little at a time but it's mostly putting in better quality parts so i dont blow my engine because i drive it real hard.

"The richer you become, the more of a sissy you become. Now when you are worth over 13 million, being reckless with your life is the last thing you think about." - Cliff Braun.
I have an RSX Type-S.... a pretty quick car. Sometimes I drive hard, real hard. Somedays, I take it slow and cruise.
If you saw me on the "slow day" and didn't know any better, would you rant then?

I guess it's just personal preference. I drive my Civic like a grandpa, it's my daily driver. When I want to get myself into trouble I drive my M3, but I'm getting more into track stuff these days rather than going as fast as I can down I-95. One reason people might not go likedraped-apes is the cost. If I drove like Mario Andretti all the time my fuel economy would drop through the floor, and my tires would turn into to molten lava after a couple thousand miles. I learned that on my first set of tires on the M3
If i had a fast car, I wouldnt drive fast like a jackass way over the speed limit.. (well for most of the time). The reason i'd buy a fast car is for acceleration =) thats the fun part.
I know what you mean. I'm sure other drivers are like to me "damn, why does he drive so fast, when he has a slow *** civic?" He should drive slow because he has a slow car.

Why not accelerate a bit more to get up to the speed limit? It's just that they barely have their foot on it. It's dangerous to try and merge with freeway traffic with that car going 45mph in front of you. A majority of these cars that do this are faster than my vic.

Acceleration and power. That's normally the reason for buying high powered cars/trucks.
I prefer great handling cars though. I try to stick to the limit but I have been known to be a lil heavy on the throttle so you'll see brake lights frequently.

yeah same with me..i would'nt mind a fast car but I don't need one.My civic has plenty of style and it's handling is unmatched. Not to say I dont do ALOT of Wide Open Throttle action and rev it to redline, but I hardly do any racing or anything,no point....

you buy a fast car not only for the feeling of power, but for the looks and knowledge that you have a car that can kick some *** if you need the power, i think its retarded to go and think your car has alot more ***** then it actually does, its retarded to drive out civics like fools on public roads if you don't have the power, that just my 2 cents.
jonny
ps. money doesn't represent how fast you should drive

I don't think this is true for everyone, but the only reason why I would buy a fast car is to make everyone shut the hell up about how slow my car is. So.. just an image issue for me.. not wanting to drive fast.
