Test Drove a Mazda 3
I just test drove a Mazda 3 because my friend has one on order.
Anyways, the one we drove was the S type model with 160 hp engine and 4 speed automatic trans. It was also the 5 door hatchback. It drove amazing compared to the Civic. Even with the 17 inch rims and tires, the ride was not harsh, just firm. The engine had tons of power, even at low rpms. The styling overall makes you feel like you are driving a much more expensive car, such as a Honda or Toyota. Feels like $26,000. Anyways, the whole car was really sweet, even the stock stereo had bass!
Descent Sound System,
Xenon Headlights,
Moonroof
17's
Leather,
160 hp engine with Variable Valve Timing
for $20,000?
Made me kick myself for buying my Civic.

On paper, the 3 sounds good, but I can't get past the styling. I'll have to pass when I look for a new car.

that page gives some info on the drawbacks to the rotary engine. soooo, i guess that's why rotaries aren't in all cars. they're easier to fix because of fewer moving parts, but they're worse in terms of emissions.....and more expensive (because they aren't mass-produced like cylinder engines)...

The perfect combustion chamber is perfect sphere. Until somenone figures out a way to have metal expand in a spherical nature the best thing we have is a cylinder. That is why they (cylinder engines) have the upper hand when it comes to economy and emmisions.
I'm all for the success of the RX8 and it's rotory... and possibly (but looking less likely) the return of the RX7. However in a compact economy car, the cylinder is king.

oh yeah I am sure that I drove the Mazda 3.
The dealer back home got a sedan a couple of weeks ago,
and the dealer here at school got one a couple of days ago.
The 3i type has 140 hp, and the 3s type has 160, either are available with a 5 speed manual or a 4 speed automatic.
