I just Purchased a MAZDA 3

Here is my story!! I have been looking for a new car for some time, something kind of sporty and cheap (I know you cant get that in a car under $15,000, but i found it) I have testdriven Toyota Corollas, Honda Civics (All most bought a 2004 Coupe LX), Toyota Matrix, and a Sentra. These cars performed well (especially the Civic) but they werent what I really wanted cause the vic has like no torque and costed $14,900. So the last car to test drive was the Mazda 3!!
The people at the dealership were very nice, they werent pushy as usual. So we went for a test drive I tried the Mazda 3i and the Mazda 3s (10 hp difference but $3.500 in price). The Mazda 3i pulled extreamly well and handled like a dream, Then I tried the Mazda 3s I didn't feel any difference in the handeling and the power. So its time for me to make some calculations for the payments, Plus I wanted some extras in the car, air conditioning, a sunroof and a six-disc CD changer, leather-wrapped steering wheel, and ahh full leather seating . So I am thinking thats $17,000 right there so I start using the usual tricks with the dealer, lowering payment, trying to walk away from the dealer all that stuff, I bust out a couple of Invoice prices and TMV prices and some other stuff from www.Carsdirect.com and ww.edmunds.com and to my surprice the total price for the car (Mazda 3i) is $15,364 with Tax (at which point i begin to droll all over the dealers desk) I got in dark metalic green. I got it with a manual tranny, the car is so much better then the civic and corolla and all of that bs, i belive Mazda has really outdone themselves this time!!! I am very happy with the car. I'll post some pics later when I get my friends digital camera :

Congrats on the buy! So U got the Mazda 3i w/ a sunroof and a six-disc CD changer, leather-wrapped steering wheel and full leather seating for $15,364 with Tax?? Thats pretty good....the only thing is that the 2004 mazda 3 is a new first year design and some might have problems as most new models do, but all that should be under warranty. let's see some pics inside and out.

Congrats. That looks like such a nice car. And I can't beileve it's cheap, too. Mazda has a reputation for building quality cars. My dad has a 92 miata and the only thing that needed fixing was the clutch after all that time. Post pics!

yeah the mazda 3 is cool but my mom used to have a mazda before her vw and that things lasted 50 miles before the tranny went out and the tranny cost more to fix than the car was worth and it was only four years old. Yeah the mazda 3 has more features but it is not up to par with honda's quality, reliability, and resale value. O and how would they let go a 17000 dollar car for 14300(tax is around a 1000) that quite a big difference in price. I kno went i was buying my civic i couldnt really bargin much because 1 it was a lease and 2 it was priced only 1000 over invoice to begin with. The new mazda 3 is very nice lookin and seems to have great features. Congrats on the new purchase. pics?

Congrats! I didn't know the car was even out.. The Mazda's are doing well these days. AT least on the 02 Consumer Report.. Proteges ranked more reliable than Civics.

i looked at the protege when i bought my civic... nice car for the money, handles nice and well built. BUT...

1) i had a crappy dealership experience. my dad came with me and asked them about a financing promotion. he had seen 1.9% advertised, and rather than the dealer tell him that it was actually 2.9% at that time, he chose to tell my dad no, you're wrong, we don't have that going on at all. my dad got kinda ticked, went to the car, and was followed by this guy insisting that we should bring back the ad to prove him wrong. horrible experience, and with no other dealers in the area we looked elsewhere.

2) as pointed out above, resale value. i want to get a better job someday, and they estimate in 5 years my car will have about 62% of it's original value. while i don't save off the sticker, i make a little more later down the line.

3) mazda is owned by ford. ford sucks, thats why i got this car was to escape my ford. i didn't want to incidentally help them buy buying it.

Ford has a stake in Mazda, it doesn't own it in it's entirety. My dad has a '98 Millenia S, beautiful car. I've never heard about Mazdas having problems, at least most of their cars are still assembled in Japan, which is more than I can say for our Civics.

yes im pretty sure a ford engine is in the mazda 3. Snooterz i was going with past experience with mazda and now there pretty much run by ford so that just makes it worse. I really like the new rx8 though that car is awsome

I smell :zbsflag: . FIrst off the car is not even out yet, then there is no way you got that car for 15 grand with all that in it. New cars don't for invoice right away well maybe cause it's a ford it will. The car is not even on there web site to build and price it just tell you about the car.

hey, he is telling th truth!!

I am wondering how can mazda 3 be so cheap??

for the same price, from the dealer, he got shifttronic trasmission, leather wrapped steering wheel, all power feature, 17" wheels, spoiler, subwafer, sport red seat, wiper with sensor and "super good" sounds system according to the salesman, and the salesman say it is 100% japan engine, matirial etc...

I was jalous (maybe) so I just say for all the features for the so cheap price, the car must suck...because for the price we can basically only get a pretty standard powered corolla or civic or sentra manuel....why the hell is the mazda 3 so cheap? So Honda, corolla and Nissan are all dumers? unable to make car with all these feature and a cheap price??

Honda should put more options in the Vic.
