Honda has the high performers, but you would have to look outside of the Civic (economy car) to get performance. I have a feeling that the XRS would be more expensive than a regular Corolla. Get a V6 accord if you want HP because I'm pretty sure that it would whoop the XRS. Remember, the regular Corolla is still there with a little more HP (3) than the Civic. It all depends on how much you're willing to pay, not how much HP the manufacturer should stick in a car

in no way will a corolla ever be as good as a spec-v. i have driven both, and the spec-v totaly felt more confident in corners, and it has tons more torque output per hp. plus the spec-v is better looking, allthoug i do have to say that the new corolla does look pretty sweet. i heart my LSD!

I dont know why everyone has bad things to say about the Si. I drive one and love it. Driving it is fun, and i personally love the way that the body style looks. i think its the best body style hatch ever. I used to like the 92 style the best, but once i got my Si i feel in love with it. It may not be the fastest car on the market, but its still pretty quick and handles sooo well. I may not be faster than everyone, but most of the people i hear knocking on the Si are people who drive LX's and EX's and, sorry guys, but i'll take my Si over any other 7thGen any day of the week, and anyone who has even driven an Si will probably agree with me.

well the GT-S is a much better car then the Spec V even without an LSD so I think if they gave it the full specs as the GT-S version of the 2zz and slapped in an LSD I think It WOULD be a close comparison to the spec V. As listed NO. And yeah I agree the spec V looks better.

I dont understand you guys!! I can name a few cars that Honda has made RECENTLY that are great performers.

1. DC5 Integra 02 220hp
2. Civic type R 02 200 hp
3. Accord V6 6 speed 03 240 hp
4. RSX-S (its a acura, but technically its a honda) 02 200 hp
5. 04 Acura TL 270 hp SOHC 04
6. Cant forget about the S2000 2.2 ....240 horsepower @ 7700 rpm and 161 lb-ft. @ 6500 rpm replaces 240hp @ 8300 rpm and 153 lb-ft. @ 7500 rpm


I am very impressed with Hondas new line of cars. Granted, we dont get all of Hondas new vehicles, well thats because we dont live in Japan.

Yeah you are right... except... they are not Civics here you are talking about.

In North America, we now officially drive one of the slowest passenger cars on the market...... its hurting when ****-boxes like 2.0L VWs are getting power-upgrade to 150HP, and REAL ****-boxes like the Aero is getting 2.3L 160HP engines... same with Focus...

Sad sad sad. To think, 10 years ago, Civics were the QUICKEST of its class. Mind you, they were relatively using the same motor... 106HP & 125HP respectively. Today, 115HP & 127HP doesn't cut it no more. Competition is moving.

i got this car originally to save gas, but i want it to be faster so i did a few things, but im still slow. so in the near future im going to upgrade to a k20a.

Yeah, they need to bump it up now. I mean the numbers haven't really changed in the Civic line-up for a long time now. Civic's need better gas-mileage and power to keep that image of a car that will last a long time, all over again...

2001, Civic was the best bang for the buck. Everyone else here is complaining about THE FAC THAT COMPETITION IS EVOLVING, while Civic is sitting dead still.

Stop nut-hugging your Civic.... if competition is surperior, the proper thing to do is acknowledge it and respect it.

Werd. civics are one of teh most well rounded cars for its price. Honda cars are one of the best packaged cars out there. Im sure youve all reailized that when you looked at the sticker of your civic when you bought it, it wasnt slapped with like loads of options. im sure for the price of the corolla with similar equipment to a civic would be higher. GTS corolla is not bad, extra horsepower is always welcome to any car. but the fact that the car will cost more than its competitors will not make it attractive. Why drive a Corolla GTS when you could just drive a Celica GTS? i hope its not for bragging rights

the GTS is probably one of toyota's gimick to attact a more youthful group of buyers. im guessin they are targeting the import scene like the Scion. ergh... good thing i havnt seen alot of praise for that thing on this forum. haha

if you read the thing. its not a corolla GTS, its a 170 hp corolla XRS with the detuned celica GTS engine which originally has 180 hp.

Technically the car is near it's competition in terms of price. Sure the SE-R is cheaper, but there are cars like the MAZDASPEED Protège, and umm... well other well tuned four doors out there. SVT Five door Focus, I guess is it's competition too, along with the SRT-4.

I like the Xb's with the flip down monitor in the back. those are kinda ugly but have lotsa function. I think they are very nice cars in their own way. I mean hell people actually paid money for a suzuki aerio and a honda element. lol

It actually doesn't look too bad. I saw it an the local auto show and it was getting a lot of attention....I wouldn't buy one for a daily driver, maybe for a toy. Put some big speakers in there and you've got yourself a mobile subwoofer box.

old news to me. my cousin in hong kong has a corolla with a 2.2 vvti celica engine and a navi screen swap too. TOTAL sleeper. it's a wagon, and what i like best is that his muffler is hidden behind the rear apron with the tip pointed down. but yea, the civic needs to catch up! hehe
