yea it wont hurt your engine unless you go into the redzone, but that is highly likely. I have an auto and I raced a hatchbach the other day and it shifted at the redline each time.

basically if you let off of the gas for a second, it will usually shift then floor it again. In mine if I floor it, it shifts at about 7k rpms. There really isnt much difference between 6.7k rpms and 7k rpms.

Remember that once you pass peak HP rpms (I think that's 6500) you're losing HP. So shifting at 6.7k may be better than shifting at 7k.
