fast yet affordable cars
fast yet affordable cars
Ok, i have mentioned in another post that i might get a rx7, but I want 2 kno all my options first. Is there any other car out there that can be compared to the rx7 twin turbo in performance wise and tend to be more reliable and easy to work with?
Buy a 240 sx like me and do an s15 conversion..........im sure the amount you spend on a 93 rx7 will cost you the same as buying a 240sx new s14 or s15 front clip and a turbo
The s15 motor(SR20DET) has 250hp dynoed
The s14 has 205 dynoed
add a turbo and depending on the boost you would get more power out of the engine.......plus sylvias and rx-7 are rival cars

ya, the Evo is hardly an affordable car. At least for most of us.
If its absolute straight line acceleration you want, I'd go with something with a V8. cheep easy power. (Improts are fun but for Speed on a Budget, V8's are the way to go).
If its the corners your after, then Light weight is the way to go. Something like an early Mazda Miata or a 1st gen RX7. cheep and handles Extreamly well.
Try to stay away from FWD platforms for either, its just a liability for both. (I love my civic, but it donsnt handle nearly as well as a Miata).

limiting yourself to just japanese cars is not only short sited, but a pretty ignorant choice. When looking for cars you should look at a variety of factors, not just what country they come from.

Cheap and fun? How about a 1st Gen Supercharged MR2? Don't think it compares to an RX-7, but they're fun as hell. Maybe a 240SX with an RB25DET in it? The DIY is in Sport Compact Car. E30 M3s are fast, light and fun... and E36 engines go in to them nicely. A 944 Turbo? (they're a bitch to fix though)

Three things to remember when building up your car.
If you want it to be fast and cheap, it won't be reliable.
