An AE86... if you can find one. Other than that, an RX-7, 240SX or 300ZX, really any FR car would do. Just watch some Initial D and pick one.
I agree with the 240 sx. I also had one and it was so much fun. Just a little gas in at turn and the back end would go loose. But it was also a easy car to get control of, very forgiving. If you know anyone that has one ask them to let you drive it.
1990 240SX. My wife has one, but every once in a while I take it out and do a little drifting...
Plus, you can find one for about $1500. Just find one that has a solid chassis and preferably stock. But if you're gonna wanna mod the engine, get a '91.

I drift my 510 through the Las Angelese mountains yeeeee... They are rare...
AE86... The hatchi is a drift machine.... just pick up an 86 or 87 Corolla GT-S
240s are cool as long as you do the Silvia conversion.... can't not beat teh SR20DET... i got one ready to drop into the 510...
An RB25 DETTor RB26 DETT (Skyline twin turbo motor) would be insane but they go for like 4500-5500
Supras are like driving a freakin tank and to get even 700 hp takes a lot of $$$....
Evo is AWD and mitsu could never put out enough HP to do a 4 wheel drift...

Pickup trucks are easy to break loose. . . but harder to regain control of.MR2s wouldn't be as good (I would think) because the car is more balanced (almost 50/50) and would be more difficult to drift. . . at least would feel much different than all the FR cars.

NO! the 91-95 MR2 Turbo's handling (in stock form) can only be discribed as EVIL! And Drifting a Rear engine car is near impossible.
Its fun watching them Autocross, the inexperianced drivers come flying in to the corners, lift off the gas and spin like tops. Never ceases to amuse me!

I thought that he just wanted something to learn in. He can find a 240 for under 2g and he doesn't need to put mods on it to learn to drift. Just take it out and drive. After he get the pratice he needs he should sell it and most likely not loose to much money or none at all if you play your cards right.
My first car was almost a '91 240sx, fully loaded with low miles. some rat bought it out from under me before i could give the lady a deposit, ended up with a '89 prelude instead. anyway, I was just reading an article on the last gen of MR-2's and the handling on them is ridiculous and not uncommon to see them fly of a course backasswards. definately go with a 240sx. What about 300zx's? or are they too heavy. Maybe stripped down?
