S2000
This might sound dumb, but I would just appreciate an answer. I love the s2000, but if I were to get one I need to be able to drive it all year round, including New England winters, so I would need a hard top. I know they make hard tops for them, but is this something that I can get and add on, keeping the convertible cover folded down? How does this work, or is it like the miata's on or off approach? My diloema is I want the convertible, but in the winter I'll need a hard top. Can this be done?

Ok. I remember the first edition of the S2000 had a horrible blind spot in the canvas top so that was redesigned the following year. I've heard of the hard top being available for the car but not sure if it's a standard type feature. I have never seen one driven in the winter.

you're going to have to get some snow tires for that bad boy aswell....i'm not talking all seasons....SNOW tires...
cause that thing will go no where in the snow with those potenza's or whatever they have...
the hard top is a 4 grand option here in canada....

I want one too. I hear you on your situation. I live in New England and would face the same thing. Like these others guys have said, it's almost some kind of sin to drive this car in the snow. Actually, IMO you should garage the thing at night and when the weather is bad.

so I've done some more research and as for the tops, yes the mugen one looks nicer, but cuts a lot of visibility out. As for a beater car, fat chance I would be using all my $ for the car in the first place and yes I realize I would need snow tires, which I've got for the vic. Anyhow I love the car, but it might not be for another year.
