what to buy?
ok, my civic will be paid off in Nov. maybe sooner. im going to trade it in and get something else. i dont know what to get though. i want something decently fast (at least mid 15 stock), good looks, reliablility isnt a big issue because i only drive about 10 miles a week. i also dont want to pay over 20k. looking at new or lightly used cars. my prospects so far are:
2003 mustang 5 speed
2003 hyundai tibruron gt v-6
2001 mazda miata
1997 Probe GT/MX-6 LS
2002 GTI 1.8T
2002 Jetta VR6
2001 P-71 Crown Victoria
any other ideas welcome, im stumped.

2003 mustang 5 speed - HELL NO
2003 hyundai tibruron gt v-6 Not bad
2001 mazda miata ummmmmmm, kinda small
1997 Probe GT/MX-6 LS It's a FORD, NO
2002 GTI 1.8T - Good Choice
2002 Jetta VR6 - VERY GOOD
2001 P-71 Crown Victoria - THis is just dIsTuRbInG
WRX = Good!
Or just modify your civic and keep it for a while. It won't lose value that fast.

2003 mustang--not really leaning that way because i cant find one with T-Lok rear-end. they arent slow really but i think if im going to have mustang look i want GT go.
2003 Tiburon--going to drive one tomorrow, and get cost estimates. but insurance is about 300 a month, thats more than i would pay for the SRT-4 i looked at.
2001 miata--i want small kinda. no kids...yet. good autoX and drag car. no weight.
1997 Probe GT/MX-6 LS--do some homework, both cars are made by mazda from mazda parts and mazda engineering. leaning the most toward that because they are quick , i like the styling, and they sound amazing with exhaust. and they commonly go over 200k miles easy.
VW's--have to look some more. like the looks and performance. no rebate on new cars and somwhat more expensive than the others. around here anyways.
P-71- whats disturbing?lol people will move when i fly up on em on the freeway. they are the same 4.6 as the mustang GT so there is alot of interchangable parts with the exception of the intake and a few others. kenny brown made one that run the quarter in like 13.1 at 115 or something like that.
WRX--AWD, dont really want that cause i like to burn out and most of my racing is on the freeway now because i work when the track is open.
the civic is losing retail value quick, its got 70,000 miles on it, a going bad trans and differential. plus im really tired of people pulling up next to me and for no reason telling me my car isnt fast and yelling at me and other bullshit, its annoying. no offence guys but im kinda tired of being assosiated with civic drivers (you know big wing stickers galore, that kind of thing) thanks for you inputs so far.

From the list I'd go with either GTI or Mustang. GTI looks nice, easily modded to go fast, the Mustang GT is fast out of the box. You can pick up a 01 or 02 GT for pretty cheap, and honestly they are pretty reliable, despite what everyone says.

I hear ya on being associated with homos that think civics are race cars just cuz they saw The Fast and Furious too many times. If it is gonna be paid off then dumb a little money into it, or go for the RSX. Or since ur worried bout miles on the motor then do the K20 swap and boost it, then when ppl pull up next to u and make fun of u, u can make fun of them at the finish line after they pick their jaws up off the ground. HaHaHa.......just kidding
Go for an RSX

Lightly used WRX . . . already turbocharged, easily-modded, they handle extremely well, and AWD means better control in all weather conditions. . . .
. . . and WTF? You're going to base part of your car-buying criteria on being able to do burnouts?
Dood, if you MUST do burnouts, at least do it respectfully and go RWD. Otherwise, get the Subbie. AWD burnouts own all other burnouts.
Brand NEW, 2004 Impreza 2.5RS sedan. . . just under $20,000.
165 HP (EASILY turboed)
166 FtLbs Torque (Hey, it's a 2.5 liter engine!)
Or go back a couple of years and get yourself a 227 HP TC WRX. I'll bet you can find plenty of them for sale right about now with the STi out.

wow, not to be an ***,really. but i think you just skipped to the end and posted didnt you. i explained once that the ford probe is made almost 100% by mazda. all the mechanical things are the same. the only thing for did on the probe was design, interior and exterior.
anyways, i dont want an rsx becuase my dad had a type s and honestly i didnt like driving it that much. my driving habits tend to be hard on transmissions so im kinda shying away from AWD as a precaution, i dont know much about the AWD system they use but if its good i would consider it, they are nice cars.

i looked at the spec-v, i think it was a 2004, had the new front end. man, those got bland in a hurry, no more red faced gauges or cool seats. all the things i liked about them arent there anymore. maybe ill live with my parents a few 6 years and buy a EVO.

well im a firm believer in if you take care of it, it will take care of you. or if you dont take care of it, it will take care of you. either way. i know they are reliable, or can be. that 4.6 is the same one used in the crown vic police interceptor, with different heads and intake and exhaust. but internals i believe are the same and i have seen those at over 300k miles. my friends dad has one in his Taxi fleet with 310k miles it, runs perfect. but yeah another one of my friends just bought a 00' with 14k on it for 13k. was thinking about that, but a rebate would be cool to drop the price more and i want a full warranty and the belief that i just bought my OWN brand new car. (my dad paid for this one).
