Well I am thinking of getting a different car, but I’m not sure exactly what to get. The only reason I am thinking about it is because my civic is kinda expensive. Each month I pay about $200 car payment, $300 insurance, then plus the gas and plates and stuff. The major one is the insurance, so I was thinking that if I got a car that had a lower payment, or no payment, it would be better.
So I talked to the bank a few days ago and I guess I’ve got about $6,000 to potentially spend. I know I want to stay with something that is at least a 2000, and I don’t want Ford, Dodge, Chrysler, and the like. The two best in my mind are Toyota and Honda. Also I want something that accelerates better than my '01 EX Coupe MT.
Any tips or advice would be awesome.

Heh, I know I know.... I could still have some payment, but damn insurance is killing me!!! The other idea I was playing with was getting a POS and saving for something real nice... but I like having a nice car NOW, not later. What I really really want is a 2000 Si 5spd that was owned by grandma or something. It seems that every Si I see for sale has something done to it that shows it was formerly owned by someone that poetically raced it

but you can never really know what happened to it, unless of course it was a grandma, or someone who just put it in shows all the time, in wich case i wouldent want it anyhow cause all the fun is gone
I sure wish my car was newer

Your only real option is a Celica if you go new, but go for the GT-S if you get one. If you get $13,000 for your Civic and have $6,000 more, that's $19,000 and you'd only be paying on about four thousand dollars worth if you can get a deal.
As far as used cars go, I'm also paranoid with them. I would only buy a used car if I knew the previous owner well and knew they treated it well.

I wouldent need to know the owner, but if i knew it grandma was the only owner ever, then I think it would be OK, or even if it was like a 47yr + person selling an Si, I would assume its altight.
hey this may be a stupid question, but did the Sis come with front grills that dont have an emblem or anything? cause i keep seing those....

something for $6000 and is faster.... i'm pretty sure you could find a 92-97 Lude for that much. and oh yeah, the celica isnt that fast at all... the narrow powerband and the super high gearing make it slower than an old man. i'd say look for a jetta/golf/GTI 1.8t or a passat 1.8t. those dont have much power stock, but the engine is very overengineered, and they are very fast with subtle mods like a chip(up to 48hp, no joke), intake, exhaust, downpipe and FMIC. my buddies 01 GTI w/ chip can take out my dad's RSX-S.

Dude... you want an untuned tuner car and you don't want to pay much. It seems like you're wanting something that's near impossible to find. You're not gonna find a 47+ year old guy driving a stock Si, or probably even an Si for that matter.
