War has begun. Imports vs. SRT-4
I thought i should chime in since i now work for Dodge. First of all, you all should know that the SRT-4 isnt a neon. Infact, Dodge is so strict about that, that if a salesperson says it is a neon that the company will get fined! No BS! Second, people that are looking for a nice interior, look other places! This is a race car, no a luxury car. Hell, it has roll down windows in the back.
Well, thats my little rant for now...there might be more to come later.

So your saying that the SRT-4 does not have the same chassis/suspension setup as the neon? If it doesn't then Dodge did a **** poor job of making it Different enough to not be considered a Neon. if it does, then its just another trim level of the neon. Just like how the EP is anohter trim level of the civic chassis as well as the RSX.

im sure the srt boys are laughing it up reading this thread, along with all the other different car forums who talk trash about it. i dont like its design, but its made to do one thing and it does it extremely well, just leave it at that and stop trying to justify why its faster than a civic. "but if it had to turn", well if grandma had ***** shed be grandpa. leave the damn thing alone.

any car with turbo will almost give someone a match, our cars are cheap reliable and without a turbo I must add, they think they are cool cuz they have a stock turbo? I could very well spend 4 more k cuz I bought my car at 16k buy myself a montserious turbo with 4k and the srt-4 looks like crap and is very unreliable IMO

They now realize it was probably the dumbest thing they could have done. They HAVE to get rid of the "neon" image at all costs because let's face it... not too many people think fondly of neons.

I am putting up.... So far in autocross I have yet to be beaten by an SRT-4, and we have 2 that come out. and no, I don't have a turbo.
I have no doubt that one would kick the snot out of me in a straight line, and with a compitant driver out on the autocross track. But so far, I have yet to find a compitant driver in one. Its mostly snot nosed teenagers that think they are the **** because the bought a fast car. well, news flash..... I don't have any respect for some one who just goes out and buys a fast car then expects everyone to be wowed by how fast he/she is.
I'd much rather find out who is the better driver, not who has better credit.

^ haha you are the true racer my friend...kinda remind me of the characters in initial d....
well anywayz yea i'm pretty sure that the srt would beat most of our 7th gens in a stright line but i bet the handeling suxx

And to the guy that has yet to be beat by one at auto cross...three questions...do you have modded suspension? and does the SRT-4 have modded suspension? And do you know for a fact that the driver of the SRT-4 is as skilled a driver? Cause before our dealership could get one on the lot, we had to go to a SRT-4 training class. Basically it was a day event to where we could toss a SRT-4 around a track, learn all about the car, and then go with professional drivers around a track in the car. I have to say, since i own a 7th gen with TEINs, and strut bars, that my car wouldnt stand a chance against that car when driven properly. Maybe my car would be if i could drive you say? You might be absolutely right, but i do consider myself to be a pretty good driver. Ive been to the Skip Barber class at Laguna Seca twice now, i use heal-toe-downshifting a lot, i know how to drive the apex of a turn, i know all of that, and use it on an almost daily basis. I was impressed to say the least by the SRT-4 at the track.
Now, dont get me wrong, i am with everyone on this board that thinks that they do look like a neon, and they are ugly, and i would never be caught owning one, i just wanted to point out a few things.

Well as for whether or not he does have a modded suspension or not, they are obviously competing in the same class. Which means probably very little modding is allowed by either car.
And yes, it DOES have the same chassis as the neon. Same chassis and probably same suspension. I'm sure the suspension system isn't all new, in other words. But they DO share the same chassis.

quank quank..
turbocharged, whatever..it's still a NEON. dodge couldn't set a trend on their own so they try to make it importish...if thats even a word. doesn't the SRT-4 get slower every full throtle run? and the more you slam the pedal to the floor, the more cranking noise it makes. i bet it sounds different every time it goes full throttle..prolly break in a year if not months..LOL chec out this site

Wow...all this for a little Neon....
Hey NoBottleJustThrottle, When I sold for Dodge/Jeep they tried to tell us that the PT Cruiser didn't have the Neon chasis either..so take it with a grain of salt. Those drive-aways were fun though. I only lasted a month and a half though since I couldn't stand being told how to read people and having to clear customers through my manager even after I got Rookie of the Month my first month there. I hate high pressure sales.
Anyway, I did see an SRT-4 in Mission Viejo in July when I was visiting. Not knowing anything about it I thought it might be stock and that Dodge had a killer Sport Compact on their hands. After doing some research I realized it was actually modded (Racing seats w/ Dodge symbols? Custom or Dodge parts?) But that one looked sweet. Not really liking the interior on the stock model and after selling Neons and my wife owning one...I would never buy it. Now this Integra Type R...Integra 4 Sale

there has always been a struggle between imports and neons... it's funny cause when i go to the track, they only let neons race with the imports cause it's considered an import.. lol.... oh well..
Well, I sat in one. The interior is ok and the seats are not that comfortable. The only thing that is good about it is the price for performance. I really dont think it was a wrx. What wrx is yellow? If it was, then what model do you think they raced? I really dont think the driver was trying to run the neon. I still like my civic and have yet to run into and race a srt-4 on the street. Not that I really care much about a NEON.

And yes its fast on a straight line. Thats the intention. I dont know many people that will talk **** about their cars and say okay, lets settle it on an autoX course. Its mainly about sraight lines. Yes there are people that race their cars on autoX but come on, that is by far not the majority.

It does make sense. Its been proven and said countless times and even on WRX forums that the SRT-4 can take a WRX from a roll stock for stock.

) from the WRX' perspective, I would think it would have been the other way around since it was a video FEATURING the Neon. (oops, did it again!) I have no doubt that one, stock vs. stock, could take a WRX from a ROLL. Thread
