i beat a celica with my moms 4 cyl accord and my car was full of people, non gt-s celicas are SLOW, i totally smoked one in my si with just an intake, when i had intake and midpipe it wasn't even funny how far behind he was, i'm sure i could still beat one with my ex and i/h/e/downpipe

It would come down to the driver in that race.....they have alittle more torque then our cars do, so u would have to be a decent driver to beat one from a flat start, but from a roll i think u will have no problem..i have run on one from a roll and pulled on it.....race one and see..

wow another old thread brought to life.

Not gonna argue about the quality of the GT-S cause it does have certain issues. Like a VERY narrow powerband, HUGE blind spots, small interior. But IMO It's been a very fun car to own.

Once you learn how to properly drive it you'll like it alot. The interior is small for everyone but the driver. I'm 6'1" and have PLENTY of room. But you can forget putting anyone in the rear.

As far as GT vs GT-S - GT-S is a Much better car. GT's are better for daily drivers but the GT-S provides much better performance and a more enjoyable overall ride!

Civic vs Celica - To outperform a GT-S you'd have to add a full suspension and a turbo. To outperform a GT you'd still need a full suspension and most of the basic bolt-ons. So IMO the extra $$ was well worth it.

yes, you definately need a better suspension for our cars to outperform the celica. I think its a really nice car, but I'm not really feeling the way it looks.

Yeah It's an aquired taste thats for sure! the look just awesome with a widebody kit though. I got mine cause you don't really see too many GT-S's around.

the celica gt is faster than an EX?

Weird, I had a 94 SL1 with the only performance mods being a strut bar, Injen intake, NGK-Vsparks, SPS 8mm wires, 15' wheels with Toyo Proxe tires. It was an auto while I had a manual and I got ahead by a half car length from a dead stop light to about 3rd gear 50ish.

PS. The 1994 Saturn SL1 was a TBI with 85hp stock. But the plastic body panels make it weigh a good 400lbs less than say a same year Civic EX.

My x girlfriend has a 2000 celica gt, its slow as *****. The new celicas-i think they're 04 or 05 have huge bulging tailight things that you will trip over if your not careful. I think that the gt's are serious girls cars, but the gts are pretty nice- and fast.

oh gotcha, nope never raced a newer 01+ civic in my saturn. I did beat the new celica gt. I have raced mid 90's Civic EX coupes and LX sedans and all the assortment of others from the 90's. I have beaten a 96 EX coupe, 97 LX sedan, early 90's accord with my saturn.

^^ well auto GT vs 5spd saturn both claiming 140hp doesnt really seem like a race. lol that'd be like me racing your saturn. lol

I agree the celica has had the rep of being a girls car and that they only "look fast" good ol toyota advertising thought that one up. lol I like a good challenge so I got one and love to see the look on people faces when they lose! but like I said they are an aquired taste.

140hp?!?

My Satty was no where near that number with all my mods I was maybe pushin 95+ from 95 stock. The SL1s were slow a **** to start off with. But a Saturn can corner with the best and the weight factor as well.

damn I thought they had more than that.

Says 1994 sl1 has 85hp and weighs 2345 lbs
Also says 2000 Celica GT has 140hp and 2425lbs

Hmm even auto would put more to the wheels then you have at the crank so thats kinda hard to believe now that I think about it. But eh stranger things have happened.

I wish I knew how it happened. I did have a short shift and it was a chick with an auto. Thats all I know.

I should have been wasted and was pretty much lookin to be, I think the look of surprise on my face was more than hers.
