Test drove 03 celica GT
Yea I went down to the toyota dealer today before i went and ****ed around with for4d's new mustangs and lightnings, and i have to say i wasnt that impressed, with a window sticker of well over 4,000 of what i paid for my 03 ex, i was expecting 4000 dollars of better car, and it didnt preform. Yeah, its a little quicker, yeah, a little more response, but i really doubt it being worth 4,000. Anyone else driven em> is the gts a lot faster? I dunno, i was just dissapointed, it handles well though. I'd still take a civic and 4 r 5 K though, anyday

Naww.. GTS has even less torque... the RPM climbs hyper fast... unless you're a wicked driver, I don't advise it.
Celica GT's not impressive on the first run.. you have to drive it hard (HARD!!) to appriciate it. It does handle & brake a lot better than our cars.. chassis is ultra-stiff.. and in my opinion, it's significantly quicker too. Running 15's with stock GT is common. Plus you get more of that go-kart feeling.. it's 250lb lighter than our cars.
But touting around town, you're right, it's not much different experience than a Civic, besides sitting REALLY low in the seats. My brother has one.. I like it, but only for moments at a time. I'm more into relaxed sporty cars... not ones with comfined bucket seats.

my best friend has one. they arent all that fast. he almost always beats me, but it's very close. It seems to shift very smoothly, has really good ride. The price just isnt worth the package imo.

uh, yeah, ok. we drive civics, sir.
I own one they are about the same as an Integra GS or Ls. A celica GT-S is about the same as a GS-R Integra performance wise(It has VVTL-i its alot like the GS-R's VTEC system. The GT celica only has VVT-i which means it has no variable lift only variable timing. The GT shares the same motor with the corrolla only difference is a few lb-ft of torque and 10 hp due to a different computer and a few other things. Also I saw someone say the GT-S has less torgue it doesnt it has 5lb-ft more than a GT. In general a GT is kinda slow but has the handeling and breaking to make up for it.

I like the style of the celica. I sat in one at the dealer while I was looking to buy a car before I got my 7th gen. The reason I didnt get the car was because the price was so high and the interior was so small and tight. I didnt get to drive the car, so I couldnt say if it was fast or not.
I dontsee the celica as a very manly car. I see mostly women driving them.

A friend and I test drove a GT. I didnt liike it at all. The dealer didnt have an y GT-Ss at the time. The were on order. A chick sales rep was with us. I didnt want to get on it and scare the **** out of her. Handling was about the same compared to the civic, at least at the speed limit. I still like my civic though.
i think 24,000 is too steep for a GT-S...i would take a type-s over a celica for that price anyday. at least i wont have a sore head from the rsx because i wont be banging my head on the chassis every time i get in the car.

Dude, i know we drive civics and yes i know they are slow...but for the extra money that you spend on the celicas they are really nothing. Rather have my civic, take the money I save and dump it into my ride...

Actually GT-S is a LOT faster than the Integra GSR... it weighs 200lb less.. has another gear & shorter overall ratio.. has more 10HP... and has a bit more fatty torque band. When GT-S first came out, every magazine was comparing it to the Integra GSR, and the first thing they said about the engine was how torquey it felt compared to it, espeically around 4K-5K RPM.
As for the GT vs GT-S... ask GT-S drivers themselves which has more bottom end grunt. They'll vouch for GT. It's true that GT-S has more PEAK torque than the GT, but you need to look at the entire powerband before saying stuff like that. Anytime you crank up the compression, you're bound to lose low end horsepower. Check out the peak torque RPM ratings for GT & GTS on Toyota's website if you don't believe me.

Yeah. . I don't think they produce what they should for that much money. .
However, I love the driving position I think it's nice, but other than that. I'm not too fond of them ..

Don't know what you guys are smokin' Celica's are great, especially the GT- S!! Check out this link:
http://www.hotchkistuning.com/frames...ng_results.htm
faster slalom than a 360
Better lat grip than a Z06
This Celica uses after- market brakes/ pads so the braking figures are a little mis- leading
All accomplished in 100% street legal trim with a stock engine and full interior
BTW- how many of you have actually driven this car? Stock it can beat a 93 Prelude w/ I/H/E & it probably handles better than any other FWD car. It stops on a dime, as well- as good as a porsche. MUCH better than an RSX. It's a driver's car.

I agree with you...i have driven one and they do handle better then any car i have driven right outta the box....but for the money i would rather have something else...and plus they are so small inside...too many blind spots and just not good for tall guys...and im not even that tall....my $.02
i test drove a GT-s once it was right off the truck seats still had plastic over them first one to drive it. it was the auto with slap shift version. the slap shift was all cool but not as fast as a manual and the car felt very very weak under 6000 RPM the whole time i was just waiting to hit VVT but on the freeway it was fun. the salesman was very cool and i sure broke that car in. he was tellin me to get into it and he hadnt even been in one before and this was a toyota salesman.....pretty cool car but not worth the price.

I think Celica GT is worth it.. because you get identical suspension & brake set-up as the GT-S. Except you get 15's instead of 16's.
For the record, in C&D's tests, BMW M3 pulled .87g on their skid pad.. while Celica did .88g. Something to think about, especially with a front wheel drive car.
But I have to agree with everyone on the GT-S as a rip off. It's same thing as with RSX-S. I think they are both rip off, especially when considering their humble origins (Corolla & Civic, respectively). For that much, 240HP V6 Accord or Altima comes to mind.
