newbie question
hey this might sound kinda newbie but i was just curious about something. i dont really street race but sometimes you know there are just those people that **** you off that think they are faster than you and everything lol. anyways, i was just wondering how hard it really is on your engine when you race...like getting very close to redlining each gear when there is the fuel cutoff point. i dont do it often, but i was just curious how bad it hurts the engine each time :-/

its fine for ur engine. thats why you have a redline. the engine and transmission can take more abuse than ur redline, but the redline is their so that you dont exceed the safety limits of the engine. the only thing it hurts is your mileage.

its kind of pointless to rev to redline anyway since max HP comes way before the redline. so by redlining, youre in effect not using the engine to its full potential.
as far as racing, if youre a good driver sometimes the opponents car doesnt really matter.

Looks like some people are pretty tough on the DX. Compared to the EX, it may have no VTEC and less max HP, but it also weighs less. Besides how many of the people here laughing at the DX drive the LX. The LX has the SAME engine AND most of the added weight. I'm not trying to start a DX versus EX war, but I wanted to set the record straight. The EX is a far nicer car with more luxury features. However that weight comes at a penalty towards performance.
