Thumbs down Honda's paint quality

What's the deal with honda's paint quality? Its absolute crap. However, that of Acura is a whole lot better. You'd think sicne they are technically the same company it would be on par with one another. I think Nissan and Toyota has great quality with their paint today and even years ago. Most used honda's I see today are incredibly oxidized and faded , while a nissan or toyota of the same year looks good.

My paint is only a little over a year old (NBP) and it looks like crap. I do love the look a of a black car, but there's no way I'd ever get another, at least not one from honda. shoulda got silver.

my paint is fine on both the black and silver civics that i have...maybe if you learn who to take care of your paint, you wouldnt have a gripe about it

Maybe I dont take care of my paint either??

I wax it about once a month and I wash it once a week or so, and yet it has a ton of scratches and today, some of the paint flaked off on the roof.

I have looked in the detailing section but, I dont understand what I can do about this besides repainting it. Every little scratch in a black car is so obvious and it annoys the **** out of me.

What can I do???

BTW, the paints on the older Honda's do look extremely faded, that shouldn't happen in only around 5 years.

had my car 6 monthes, washed it every two weeks or so and just waxed it for the first time, no scratches yet, just a little nick. My car is shiny as can be, so i dunno what everyone is talking about it being a bad quality paint, my car shines like a pearl compared to my moms celica which is a 2000 blue. here car definitely needs a paint job and has tons of scratches. my car is black by the way and it is beautiful and shiny. i think washing it and taking care of it more might help u out.

scratches are one thing, fading crappy paint is another. scratches are your own fault, not the manufacturer. and yes, i take care of my car, i wash it and wax it regularly and it still looks like crap in some areas and the clear coat on the roof is starting to lift up.

Honda was one of the First car company's to introduce the "water based paint" system. vs oil based. its much much better for the enviroment. yeah oil based is probably a little better looking, but honda cares for the enviroment more than any other car company.

besides I have no problems with my paint job, like they said learn to take care of it better i usually give mine 3 coats of wax before the winter. and about 2 or 3 more during the summer just to make it look sweet.

If it is still under warranty, take it to Honda and see if they will repaint it. The paint should be covered.

nissan paint is just as bad as our man even worse. my step dads black 01 sentra has swirls all over the ****ing place. every inch and every corner of that car has horible marks from bad washes. maybe cause he careless and has only waxed the car once since purchase. my ride on the other hand is remarkable. i am happy with my silver pair, it looks sexy in any kind of light. not one swirl mark thanks to this site. i was a member here before i bought my civic in july of 02 so i did ALL my research.

Honda's paint quality, at least for the civic, has diminished. I've got more pits and chips in my two year old vic, than what my '88 CRX had in 7 years. Same driving conditions and all. I'm actually thinking of going back to using one of those dorky vinyl nose masks.

Well actually I guess that im sort of on both sides of the street on this one. Sure i have the normal wear and tear scratches on my white civic (not to mention the rusting dent that i still havent gotten repaired) but also when I freshly wash and wax my civic (I usually wax at least once a month sometimes every 2 wks) it gleams. I like the paint quality on my civ. I see other white cars on the road and my car outshines them all. BtW I will have had my car a year in July.

Honda paint quality is poor and it scratches very easily. Very noticable when you compare my body kit and Civic body paints

The civic is the 6th honda for the wife and I. We have never had a problem with low quality paint. My sister's 3 hondas have never had a problem with low quality paint.

This is just one of those mental things....
