Help identifying Honda model [solved]
Good day all,
First time poster here. Basically, I do not have any knowledge of Honda's. My parents bought an old Honda a few years ago and want to sell it. I'd like to know whether they have a valueable or special type of Honda, or if it's just a regular one ready for the junkyard..
Our mechanic was impressed that the VIN started with "J", saying it's a Japan-made car? It's got left-hand steering however.
The Civic is from 1998, it's a 1.4s 3-door hatchback.
The VIN is JHMEJ9340WS010347
Any and all information is appreciated! Have a great day all!
Sincerely,
Joey

re: Help identifying Honda model [solved]
The J just means it was manufactured in Japan, not necessarily a JDM RHD vehicle.
JHM EJ9 3 4 0 W S 010347
all in all, it's a grocery getter. Nothing really spectacular, tbh
JHM EJ9 3 4 0 W S 010347
- JHM: Japan (country of manufacture)/Honda/Passenger vehicle manufactured in Japan
- EJ9: one of the chassis codes for a 6thgen civic hatch. I think it's the one with the 1.4L non-VTEC?
- 3: MT 3-door hatchback
- 4: trim level. DX trim, I think. It's kinda hard to decode these VINs manually and the EJ9 chassis is throwing me off since it's not a common North American chassis. I think it's a euro market chassis? Not 100% on that. Since it's a LHD, maybe German market?
- 0: check digit
- W: 1998 model year
- S: Suzuka Plant (specific location of manufacture)
- 010347: production sequence number. Kinda like a serial number for the car.
all in all, it's a grocery getter. Nothing really spectacular, tbh
