Help out a new member with some advice
Hi this is my first post here. My 1998 Integra Type R was stolen years ago. And I've always wanted something similar. I am considering purchasing a 1999 Civic SI. The vehicle is completely straight with no accidents or damage. The engine is missing as it was removed by the old owner. So the car is basically a roller. It has nice aftermarket rims, suspension and other stuff. The shop has a new b16 to put into it. Less than 80k on the car. The local shop at Downs that is very reputable and has been in business for a long time. It belonged to one of their customers. I am considering buying the car for $6,500. In running smog legal condition. I think this is a fair shake. It also has recaro seats. What are your thoughts? You guys are the subject matter experts.

Is that including engine installation? Either way, it seems like a lot to me for what you can get for the money. I’m sure you can get a nice GSR for less than that.

That's what the engine installed and smog certificate. The engine has a 90-day warranty. It just seems like it's pretty hard to find that exact engine. I'm trying to do that now

Not sure what the ratio is for American Si to Canadian SiR (SiR is pretty rare in Canada, I suspect the Si is relatively common in the US?) but you may get lucky and find one in a junkyard (i.e PnP, it'll be listed as a 1.6 DOHC instead of a 1.6 SOHC). I guess I'm also looking at it from what the market is for cars in my area (predominantly trucks). You can get a really nice EM1 out here for less than $5,000 canadian. If you're handy, you could piece together a pretty cool civic with similar performance for cheaper.
