Blue Light
Blue Light
I've just bought a 1999 Civic EK1 Hatch and I really want to get rid of the feature that locks all the doors upon ignition and get rid of the blue light that constantly flashes after it has been locked. Any suggestions on an easy way to delete this feature.

Re: Blue Light
The auto door lock may be a "re-programmable" feature. I know it was on my 2002, and again on my 2018. My 2018 locks by default when >10MPH and I have it set to auto unlock when I shift to park. Something about manipulating the ignition and holding the lock button or something to that effect
Like @sdaidoji said, the blue light is aftermarket (or even dealer installed aftermarket). Trace the wires from the light, should be able to unplug it from the control module. It's likely ziptied or mounted in the driver's side footwell

Re: Blue Light
Aftermarket SOMEthing lol, probably alarm, and imo a blue LED could indicate it might be much newer than the car (back in the day, just about everything came with a red LED)
I'm not overly fond of the way most aftermarkets did automatic lock/unlock either.
Most are pretty easy to find and remove, but some aren't so easy. Be ready to patch up wiring insulation and maybe even splice a few if they were cut for installing the alarm. Aftermarket installs are never the same twice, play it by ear and be ready for anything.
In the USA the old civics and accords still rank very high on the most stolen cars lists. (ok i actually googled "most stolen cars" after writing that,, the first hit was a top ten list.... 1997 accord and 2000 civic were right there on the list)
Might want to check the theft stats for your country and reconsider an alarm or theft deterrent of some sort. (bright blue flashing light may be a deterrent even without an alarm)
If you can find a brand name and any other info or numbers on the control unit for the alarm theres a good chance you can find the install and user manuals that go with it online
