buying a used 2015 civic-any advice for me?
buying a used 2015 civic-any advice for me?
Hi, I don't know much about honda cars or really cars in general. I previously drove an old camry and a sentra but my sentra got wrecked so I am in a market for another car. I heard bad things about nissan's CVT so I kinda try to stay away from CVT engines but I also heard that honda civic is a very reliable car so I guess I should give honda CVT a try.
The only civic I can find now with low enough miles is a 2015 sedan LX which has 38K miles for $15K from a private seller. I believe LX is the most basic trim. So I am wondering if anyone thinks this is a good price. I think this is toward the high end even with the crazy market right now so I don't know if I should hold out for a better price or try to negotiate it down and to what number. I live in South Florida and it seems that the pricing is all over the place-it seems that a corolla with similar mileage is about $12K but I heard the Honda's CVT is generally better built so maybe it is worth more?
Also is there any major issue with the 2015 civic that I should consider? It looks like there was a big recall regarding the software that can seizes up the transmission drive pulley shaft.
In case there are other options you want me to consider: I probably drive about 40 to 60 miles a day mostly on highways. My budget is about $20K.
Thank you and hope to join a family of happy Civic owners soon!

That seems a bit high to me, even now. There are a few dealers around here with some base model 2021s - I'd assume they are asking full MSRP but that's only slightly over $21k. So a 7 year old car with no warranty and possibly unverified past versus new car with warranty for more money. This is an unfortunate time to need a new car but the used prices are getting so out of hand that a new car may make more sense.
