Drip molding

Anyone know of a website that carries drip moldings? Some websites say 75 bucks but 340+ for shipping. 🤔

The long one that starts at the front windshield and runs all the way to the back of the back glass.

Re: Drip molding

Better off to go to the dealer or a local auto body shop, may pay a little more for the part but you won't pay crazy money for shipping

Re: Drip molding

Shipping is the expensive for some reason...on the coupe they are about 7' long and the sedan closer to 10'.
Idk why shipping is so bad, fishing rod's can be shipped for a lot less in round carboard tubes than most parts dealers want to ship these parts.

Dealer is probably the best option, there are flea-bay sellers and depending on how picky you are there are some aftermarket stick on options.

If you do plan to replace them, you'll probably have to replace some or all of the clips that hold the trim strips in place also.

Re: Drip molding

Yeah the shipping is outrageous. They claim it's due to the length and width of the box which is something like 84" x 13" x 2"
It's probably more to due with the part being susceptible to breaking during shipping. That said they wont ship this molding via FedEx, UPS or USP and say it has to go via Freight. That's where the price ends up being $250+ to ship.
Oddly enough every dealer can get it overnight as it comes from a Honda warehouse in your "area" with no shipping cost added. Evenso they wont ship to you.
Another screwy things is each dealer prices the part differently. I've seen $70 to $154 for the same part. In my case the molding part # is 73168-SNA-013

Re: Drip molding

Length is the issue.. 84" must be for the Coupe, if you have a Sedan its closer to 10' or 120". The parts must be packed in a box.
For sure each dealer does charge different prices for some odd reason, fortunately I have a dealer less than 5 miles away.

The trim strip is really only about 84" x 3/4" x 1/2" and a pair could easily be wrapped in bubble wrab and slipped in a 2" x 84" sturdy tube.
I get fishing rods 8' 96" shipped to/from in those round carboard tubes that are very sturdy, if they packed them in a tube it would be less costly.

If it helps anyone who stumbles along into this issue, here are the part numbers I have gathered for an '08 Civic EX Coupe
Trim Strip Passenger - Honda Part # 73156-SVA-A01 (1 Black)
Trim Strip Driver - Honda Part # 73166-SVA-A01 (1 Black}
Clips - Windshield Area - Honda Part # 91570-SJD-003 (4 each side, Natural)
Clips - Trim Roof Line - Honda Part # - 91572-SDA-A01, (3 each side, White)
Clips - Trim Bot. windshield - Honda Part # 73155-SNA-003, (1 each side Brown)
Clip - Windshield Area - Honda Part # 73153-SVA-A01, (4 Each side ,White)
-or-
Clips - Trim windshield - Honda Part # 72154-SNA-003, (3 each side, Yellow)
Clips - Trim Windshield - Honda Part # 73153-SNA-003, (1 each side, Blue)

Re: Drip molding

If anyone is/has replaced these molding's.. I would be happy to send ya a couple bucks to cover your effort and shipping if you'd be interested in clipping off the rear 4" or so of 1 or both..
Should be siple enough to slip in a small bubble lined envelope and mail.

Mine is popped up in the rear, there is a stud that looks like the top of a nail welded to the roof, the trim has a piece, not sold separately that has a slotted section, looks like an old key-hole .that is broken.. I'll find a wat to remove it, cut it, modify it, and secure it into my strip..
