2012 civic
2012 civic
I'm looking at a 2012 civic with 327,000 kms, that's 46,000 kms per year with a manual transmission as per the owner, "mostly highway miles", and the " Car has always been well maintained" this is a quote from the owner. My question is for $4000 would that be a decent deal. Note I have not actually looked at the car, just pictures.
Re: 2012 civic
Depends what it looked like in person. That is a lot of miles but if it was well maintained then it should not be an issue. Are you planning on putting a lot of miles on it?
As far as a good deal that depends on your area.

There is no sure way to know. If you go and look at it you can get a feel on how the seller is and if they seem genuine. Also if they have logs of what they did that is nice too, makes the "well maintained" claim more believable. Everything is always "well maintained" and "never driven hard" in the add.
What is KBB in your area?
Some things to look at:
Check for clutch slippage
Pull dipstick and look at the oil color, odor
Open rad cap and check coolant color, odor
Look under the car at ball joints, control arm bushings, rust
steering feel tight
Car accelerate smooth
Scan it if you have a reader

Re: 2012 civic
So being that the car is in Canada, where I live, the black book price asking price is around $8000 CAD. Auto trader says $6000 for her to sell and for me to buy it says $8000-$9000. Like all the good feedback I've been receiving this could be a great deal or could also end up being a money pit. I'll go and get a good look at it see if there's any receipts to back up her maintenance claims and go from there.
Tks to all

$8000 black book is for top end condition vehicles. Average milage per year is 24000km. So most civics that age will be around 168,000km.

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one
