it should be in the owners' manual.
there is always a lock somewhere, did you unlock them?

Fit/Jazz has the"magic seats" that flip up? Civic (North America version anyway) does not.
You're in England? Most of us here are not familiar with variations of the cars you get over there. Could be very different from what we see here.
Fit/Jazz: Just yank upward on the lower cushion of the rear seat and its leg should release from the floor bracket?
