Car decisions?
ok, so this is my dilema. I've been given the ok by my gfriend (married next year) so I'm planning on getting rid of the civic. The only catch is I have to wait till August 05' to get a new car. I know this is still awhile away, but heck I'm impatient.
Well not so bad, but being a car nut I'm going nuts on what car to get. I've narrowed it down to two. A new WRX or a used S2000 (02' or newer). Here's the thing: This car will be my daily driver.
If I go with the S2000 it's gonna suck in the winter. I'll probably get a hard top and extra set of winter wheels. Proba 07' or so I'll be having kids. This means that I'll probably buy a sedan for winter/ kid travel. Nothing special old/ used whatever. The catch to getting the S2000 is, basically no mods because of 2nd car expenses.
Now on the flip side the WRX is a good car all year round and since it being my only car. I've been given the ok to mod it. I figure nothing insane just enough the make an STI sweat. The girlfriend would rather me get the WRX because it's the more practical car, but if I get it she doesn't want to hear me bitch about not having an S2000.
I figure both cars will be under warranty. I've been wanting an S2000 forever now, but I'm confused on which decision to make. What do you guys think? I've got time to think about this, but I figured I would get an unbiased opinion on the matter.

well...the s2000 is a good choice because its a convertible, its fast, its fun and reliable. but its a 2 seater, so that makes it hard to do a lot of stuff if you dont have another car.
the wrx is a good choice also, but dont expect anything too big. i was at the subaru dealer today getting my miata inspected (its a subary/mazda dealer), and i sat in the wrx and its about as roomy as the civic, and the seating position is even higher i think. but youll have more flexability to do more stuff.
its a tough call. i had the same dilemma going when i was thinking about what to get, and i decided on the miata. its under 10k for a used one in good condition, it has HUGE aftermarket support, its reliable, fun and everything the s2000 is, but its probably cheaper. but i got a 99. you can find an even older one, like a 95 or something like that for about 5K.
maybe thats another option for you. get an older older miata for cheap, play with it, have fun with it. im sure your g/f will enjoy it too. and when its time for a family you can easilly sell it, because the market for those is quite healthy, or you can keep it and get a second car.
good luck with it.

WRX all the way. Four wheel drive in the winter really helps. Four doors makes it easy to get in and out of too. Higher suspension leaves enough road clearance for New England's bumps and dips and cracks and what not. Plus... You're getting married. Kids might be on the way. Four doors and four seats is a very good idea. plus the WRX is a safer car all around. Plus! You can tune the WRX too, so it's not like you'll be giving up your hobby.

seriously, not many cars on the street can compete with the wrx, unless they got some major upgrades. you'll love it, trust me. the s2000 doesnt have as much modding capabilities as the wrx either....

thanks guys, I think I've made my decision to go with the WRX. I've even gotten a subaru credit card that can save me up to $500 off a new subaru. I'll miss not having a honda, but heck they haven't come out with an awd sedan or even a type R. Anyhow, come next June or so I'll be parting out my car. Currently OEM coupe lights for sale and an OEM nighthawk front lip for a sedan. I bought it thinking it was for a coupe.
