He admitted to the officer that he was speeding regardless though...I don't really think he has much of an argument other than getting the fine reduced somehow.
I'm not sure if you're from MA mykungfuisthebe, but the SDIP system here grades everyone on a scale based on violations...everyone starts in the middle and it changes yearly by a good driving record and per case basis for violations. I don't think that's really negotiable after what Havok mentioned as the first ticket...I could be wrong, but I would assume most insurance companies would follow this policy.

Geico is not licensed to sell insurance in MA, neither is State Farm. Mass has set rates for all car insurance, based on misc factors that the state sets. You're driving record is one of these factors. No matter the company (big or small), your insurance each year will be exactly the same with each company (except for group rates that some companies offer, ie 5% discount for multiple policies)
Very few states have this type, and I assume by your reply kungfuwhateveryournameis that you don't live in this state...
Kev, for every year of clean driving without ANY violations, you lose (-1) driving point, which will take, on average, about $100 a year off your cost... Step 9 is the lowest and cheapest you can get... Step 35 is the highest and most expensive....
BTW, I used to sell insurance a couple years ago....

Negative breh, in MA you need to have your license for six years and have no violations to have insurance drop for you (15 points start, (-1) x 6= -6 points, 15-6=9 points = lowest you can go). Again, it's not like other states where it tanks at 25....

ps. if your insurance is going up because of 1 or 2 speeding tickets you get to get rid of whatever crap geico or whatever and get some good privately owned insurance company to insure your car.

After all of the other "woe is me" responses that I got, I thought I was doomed.

i think mostly taxis, limos, delivery trucks, etc. are using them, but theres no reason why regular people cant get one. and i think if insurance companies use it to investigate claims and whether driver is at fault, it might be admissible as evidence in court. maybe the camera has a feature where you can display the cars speed? i dont know, i didnt really read the features and options of the thing (if there are any).
