Did another DIY install...
4AWG Engine Ground. Sound system sounds a lot better (ahem...brandon...cough). Starts pretty quick too.

Holy red wires Batman!!!!!
Now I don't mean to hate, but you think that you're stereo sounds better and you have more acceleration with these grounds??? And you can't replace your other ground because you'll LOSE torque??? PhatChevy, want to pipe in on this one?????
WAIT!!!! I can see it now!!! TYPE R Engine Grounds!!!! Adds 5HP!!!!!
LMAO, sorry, don't mean to pick on ya Joe.... Just had to say it....

I know you don't mean to pick on me, but unless you've done this mod I don't see what supports your statement. Look at the pick below, that's what helps to improve your sound system. It's a 4AWG going straight from the negative terminal to the stock grounding point (I grinded everything down to metal for best contact). If this mod didn't do anything, I wouldn't have posted this saying it did, why the hell would I? The acceleration is smoother, and I took off the 4awg wire that was already installed from the front crossmember to the engine and put the stock wire back at the same time of the wire install. That could explain the better acceleration. Other members said the same thing about their install. Look into it on the search, you'll find some good info. BTW - At darker times, even with my capacitor, my lights would dim occasionally with the AC running and the system going. Now it stays almost constant, which is a plus.
Hmm....I havent heard about acceleration and whatnot changing, and your stereo shouldent *sound* any better with the new grounds, I think that's a case of what we call phantom acoustics...i've even experienced it when I switched to 0-AUG powerwire...I swore I could hear a difference, but I didn't, as confirmed by an SPL meter and an RTA, as well as other people listening to the stereo. It just seems that way because you did a mod, and you want results so bad that you imagine them. Happens to everyone!
Now, as far as your lights and everything, that is exactly what happens with increased ground capacity...you are in essence stabilizing your electrical system, so you WILL experience less light dimming, and more constant voltage levels within the car when accesories such as amps, A/C, defrosters, and fans kick on.

When I say sound, I should have been more specific. The quality is the same, but the sub hits slightly better, I'm assuming due to the ground allowed through thr 4AWG. Think about it, small wire that's stock is the only ground on the car. We use a 4AWG (some use larger lol) in the trunk but the limit is still the wire by the battery. I added a 4AWG to that and it seemed to help. My cousin noticed a difference before I told him anything about the ground install. But yeah, for $3.50 I'm happy lol.

Actually it only adds 5 HP if they're yellow...3HP if they're red!!!!!
If 4 AWG is giving you better overall acceleration and sound, why not upgrade to 1/0 AWG...with that you should be able to run 12's easy!!!

Um... Black. Keith. You guys should really read up on this before you flame away. It helps the engine make more power because it provides an alternate path of flow for the power that goes into the spark plugs. Obviously the stock path of flow isn't optimal. Nobody knows what is, so you wire things up in parrallel so that the circuits for various things are shorter. You're basically providing an alternate grounding point for anything and everything electrical on the car.
Basically, electricity will take the path of least resistence and what this mod does is provides an alternate path for the electricity. We don't know which way it'll go and we don't care. It chooses the optimal path and we're happy.
So... It's not all BS. It's not all in your head. I am actually going to do the same thing a little later on down the road.

wow, what a great point!!!!!!!
WHY DIDN'T I THINK OF THAT!!!!!
Gosh, I should start using that silly search button more, eh? Maybe I'll learn something from you guys.
Should I try and change my ground on my Mustang???? Will it give me more power too?????? Then I can run 9's!!!!!!
What If I ground every single piece of metal on the car to itself??? I'll have 300 ground wires all helping the path of least resistence......

Obviously you think I'm an idiot...so show me the proof?
Find me articles, dyno charts, and experts who can verify what you say (not 7thGen "experts" please
). Then maybe I'll run out and ground my vehicle every which way...You realize that in just cleaning the grounding point you could gain a better ground.
Hell...switch your grounds, add the grounding straps that drag behind your vehicle to ground it to the road, and I'll still run circles around you!!!
I'm going to shove my hand into an electrical socket to see what happens. I'm not so bright you know...I don't understand stuff like that....

this is how you learn!
challenge what somebody knows...then in the discussion you might learn something new or you'll realize that something that you thought was right is wrong...
I think that mega grounding straps are a waste. Grey thinks otherwise! Let's see what he has to offer for proof, who knows I might learn something.
Or I'll just laugh...most likely the latter....

I think Grey explained it fairly well. It's pretty straight foward. I dunno, I'm in college right now, I'll try to get back later.

I don't have the time to search for proof. I bet that it's out there though. Who said anyone was stupid? I didn't. You guys are getting a little too carried away. I think it's common sense more than anything. Based on what I know of electrical systems I "feel" that this modifcation will theoretically help. I don't know for sure what kind of gains there are, but theoreticall there should be a small improvement.
