CT Emissions

All CT residents. The new emissions for cars is a hook up to our ECU which reads files and flashes our chips to make sure things are staying right/ legal whatever. I was wondering since they do not hook up to our exhuasts, nor check under our cars anymore, what if we remove our cats?? This is supposed to be an extra 20-30 hp at the wheels (this much cause of ULEV Emissions). So if we do this will it show up on our ECU flashing for them to see?? Do you guys have any other ideas on this that can give us some cheap hp?

It wont give you nearly that much HP, and it will cause a check engine light to come on most likely.

the check engine light would only come on because of the O2 sensors ins the cat (there are 2). These could be reworked into a new pipe, strait back or something.

Yeah, but it still wont be getting the correct reading because the cat filters unburnt gas and other **** from flowing out your exhaust, the o2 sensors pick that up to let you know if your cat is working or not (I think).

You wont gain more than 2-3 HP anyway, so it's really not worth doing it.

I agree with Mystic.... You'll get about 2 hp on a NA vehicle....

It's an ULEV because of the way the engine burns, not because of a cat....

Go ahead and try it though. I'll extend an offer to ya that if you can prove via a dyno readout of with cat convertor and without cat convertor, that you can gain 25hp, I'll give you $50 cash (on a non forced induction vehicle)...

And If you still believe that you will get this power, I have an air filter for sale that will give you 35+ hp!!!!!!!!!! Plus some Type R stickers that will give you 15+ hp!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Think of it!!!! 275hp at the wheels on an almost stock 1.7D!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just go with a high flow cat you will still have the correct O2 readings and gain 1 to 5 hp, haveing no cat could actual cause you to lose hp because you wouldn't have enough back pressure witch you do need some of

Yeah the ULEV comes from the EGR valve, and the leaner, returnless fuel system.

so which is a good high flow cat out there for our cars? I figure after winter I'll get the DC TCS along with a high flow cat (already have the DC header).
