New Car Prob
so I got a DC header and was all set to put in on yesterday with a buddy. We started, and then were forced to stop due to a stripped bolt (cause of rust). We tried clamps, plyers, went to sears and bought the adapters for stripped bolts with no luck. Any ideas I've over looked? I went to my mechanic, but it looks like he's busy for the week and they're gonna charge me to put the new one on. I'm also scared cause the other bolts are rusted. What the f#ck.
For the other bolts here's a trick.
Go out and buy a can of "Blaster" Penetrating Spray. Hit all of the other bolts and the stripped one too with the stuff. Let it sit for a while. Then spray them again. Let it sit, then spray again...you get the idea...
When I did headers (on my truck) I had the same problem. I sprayed all of the bolts with that stuff (following the procedure above) and the manifold bolts came out a lot easier.
As for the stripped bolt? I'm not sure. I would have suggested the Craftsman route!

you could buy this bit (not sure of the excact name...it's designed to drill out broken bolts/studs. u need to get a drill to it so hopfully you have enough room. the bit drills into the bolt (spinning counter clockwise), once it gets to a certain point it "catches" and starts turning the bolt out. saw it at sears, hopfully that helps. if you're going to the midatlantic meet, I'll bring my gator grip and give it a shot if you want.

thanks guys, yes I did try a penetrating solution, but the stripped bolt is the problem and no I cannot get a drill in there (I wish). Looks like I'll just have to suck it up and bring it into my mechanic.

Try some vice grips clamped HARD after soaking it three times a day (morning, noon, night) for four days... Guarantee it will come out....
Also, try and take a torch to it and heat it up till it glows, that always loosens rusted nuts and bolts.....
Between the two, it'll be easy......
